One-dimensional modeling of necking in rate-dependent materials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
This paper presents an asymptotically rigorous one-dimensional analytical formulation capable of accurately capturing the stress and strain distributions that develop within the evolving neck of bars and sheets of rate-dependent materials stretched in ...

Overview of the theoretical relations between necking and strain localization criteria. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Many criteria have been developed during last decades to predict diffuse or localized necking and shear banding. The lack of confrontation of these models with each other on relevant applications makes their choice difficult for the designer.

Increased Risk of Sarcomas in Children With Congenital Anomalies: Findings From the Genetic Overlap Between Anomalies and Cancer in Kids (GOBACK) Registry Linkage Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Pediatric sarcomas are a heterogeneous group of tumors that contribute disproportionately to cancer mortality in children. Although congenital anomalies are among the strongest known risk factors for childhood cancer, the risk of specific sarcoma subtypes among affected individuals has not yet been thoroughly evaluated. Procedure We

A Simple Procedure for the Post-Necking Stress-Strain Curves of Anisotropic Sheet Metals

open access: yesMetals, 2023
Modelling the anisotropic plasticity of a metal requires the derivation of various experimental flow curves from specimens machined along different orientations and, depending on the anisotropy model, tested under different loading modes (tension ...

Behavior Investigation of Necking Pile with Caps Assisted with Transparent Soil Technology

open access: yes, 2022
Pile easily develops necking defects during construction, which can limit the exertion of shaft resistance, resulting in reducing ultimate bearing capacity and creating potential safety hazards to projects.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Pearlite Interlamellar Spacing and Vickers Micro-Hardness in the Necking Region of Cold-Drawn Pearlitic Steel Wires

open access: yesMetals, 2023
The final aim of this paper is to study the microstructural changes in the necking region of progressively cold-drawn pearlitic steel wires by means of a thorough and detailed analysis of pearlite interlamellar spacing and Vickers micro-hardness in this ...

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.
