Hypervirulent Mycobacterium tuberculosis strain triggers necrotic lung pathology associated with enhanced recruitment of neutrophils in resistant C57BL/6 mice. [PDF]
Tuberculosis (TB) is a chronic infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) that in most cases induces irreversible necrosis of lung tissue as a result of excessive inflammatory reactions. The murine model of TB in resistant C57BL/6 mice

A histopathologic evaluation of gross lesions excised from commercially important North Altantic marine fishes [PDF]
Histopathologic studies of lesions found in commercially important North Atlantic marine fishes are uncommon. As part of a comprehensive Northeast Fisheries Center program ("Ocean Pulse") to evaluate environmental and resource health on the U.S ...

Detection of extrachromosomal circular DNA (eccDNA) in plasma samples from EGFR‐mutated non‐small cell lung cancer patients. Plasma was collected before and during treatment with the EGFR‐tyrosine kinase inhibitor osimertinib. Plasma eccDNA was detected in all cancer samples, and the presence of the EGFR gene on eccDNA serves as a potential biomarker ...

Microbiota of grapevine woody tissues with or without esca-foliar symptoms in northeast Spain
Grapevine Trunk Diseases (GTDs), particularly esca, are major concerns in Spain. This study characterized the fungal and bacterial communities in a 30-year-old ‘Cabernet Sauvignon’ vineyard in Catalonia, Spain.

Chronic osteomyelitis of skull associated with necrotic injury after trauma: A case report [PDF]
A 32-year-old male came to the emergency room with a crescentric 4x11 cm tissue defect at the right temporo-parietal region. Brain tomography showed a tissue defect in the right parietal region but bone integrity was preserved.

Liquid biopsy epigenetics: establishing a molecular profile based on cell‐free DNA
Cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) fragments in plasma from cancer patients carry epigenetic signatures reflecting their cells of origin. These epigenetic features include DNA methylation, nucleosome modifications, and variations in fragmentation. This review describes the biological properties of each feature and explores optimal strategies for harnessing cfDNA ...

Necrotic cell death causes loss of membrane integrity, release of intracellular contents and deposition of necrotic cell debris. Effective clearance of this debris is crucial for resolving inflammation and promoting tissue recovery.

Clinical trials on PARP inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma (UC) showed limited efficacy and a lack of predictive biomarkers. We propose SLFN5, SLFN11, and OAS1 as UC‐specific response predictors. We suggest Talazoparib as the better PARP inhibitor for UC than Olaparib.

Multicellular Tumor Spheroid in an off-lattice Voronoi/Delaunay cell model
We study multicellular tumor spheroids by introducing a new three-dimensional agent-based Voronoi/Delaunay hybrid model. In this model, the cell shape varies from spherical in thin solution to convex polyhedral in dense tissues. The next neighbors of the
