Composition of Essential Oils in Needles and Barks of Turkish Red Pine (Pinus brutia Ten.) Infested by Marchalina hellenica Genn.

open access: yesDrvna Industrija, 2022
The scale insect Marchalina hellenica Genn. plays a key role in pine honey production and is hosted mainly by Turkish red pine (Pinus brutia Ten.). The needles of Turkish red pine are rich in essential oils.

Dynamically Crowded Solutions of Infinitely Thin Brownian Needles [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. E 96, 012118 (2017), 2017
We study the dynamics of solutions of infinitely thin needles up to densities deep in the semidilute regime by Brownian dynamics simulations. For high densities, these solutions become strongly entangled and the motion of a needle is essentially restricted to a one-dimensional sliding in a confining tube composed of neighboring needles.

Differentation of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) seed orchard in Gidyle on basin of morphological needles trains

open access: yesActa Biologica, 2016
The subject of this study was to analyse the variation of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) seed orchard with regard to a complex of 9 morpho-anatomical traits of needles. The following measurements were carried out: needle length, number of resin canals,

Synthesizing Strategies for Needle Steering in Gelatin Phantoms [PDF]

open access: yesEPTCS 316, 2020, pp. 261-274, 2020
In medicine, needles are frequently used to deliver treatments to subsurface targets or to take tissue samples from the inside of an organ. Current clinical practice is to insert needles under image guidance or haptic feedback, although that may involve reinsertions and adjustments since the needle and its interaction with the tissue during insertion ...

A comparative study of the needle folded mesophyll in Pinus and Cedrus (Pinaceae) species

open access: yesИзвестия высших учебных заведений. Поволжский регион: Естественные науки, 2022
Background. The structure of the assimilatory tissue of the leaves at conifers studied mainly on cross-sections. The purpose of the study is to compare the features of the 3D forms of assimilative cells and the structure of the needle mesophyll in the ...

Casimir interaction of rod-like particles in a two-dimensional critical system [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. E 94, 032130 (2016), 2016
We consider the fluctuation-induced interaction of two thin, rod-like particles or "needles" immersed in a two-dimensional critical fluid of Ising symmetry right at the critical point. Conformally mapping the plane containing the needles onto a simpler geometry in which the stress tensor is known, we analyze the force and torque between needles of ...

Study on the Component and Distribution Characteristics of Needle-like Inclusions in Rose Quartz

open access: yesYankuang ceshi, 2018
BACKGROUND The needle-like inclusions in rose quartz are considered to be rutile or dumortierite, and their orientation is related to the c-axis. However, there is no consensus on this statement.

Forgotten needles

open access: yesEmergency Medicine Journal, 2008
A 50-year-old man with a history of heroin addiction was admitted to hospital with chest pain. A description of his symptoms and the ECG suggested pericarditis, and transthoracic echocardiography revealed a small pericardial effusion. A chest radiograph showed needle-shaped densities in his arms and neck (fig 1, arrows).
