Negative ion beam extraction experiments on the KAERI negative ion source
Fusion Engineering and Design, 2016Abstract A small-scale test stand of a negative NBI source composed of a prototype negative ion source, an RF generator, and an HV power supply for negative ion beam extraction has been established. The magnetic filter and a beam extraction grid system with electron deflection magnets were designed for the prototype negative ion source.

Cross Section Data for Negative Ion Sources
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2007We present here some recent advances in the field of atom‐molecule and electron‐molecule collisions involving hydrogen and its isotopes. For the first topic the possibility of exploiting our large and complete hydrogen database by a suited scaling law is explored with the purpose of obtaining databases of hydrogen isotopes.

3D modelling of negative ion extraction from a negative ion source
Nuclear Fusion, 2010The development of a suitable negative ion source constitutes a crucial step in the construction of the neutral beam injector of ITER. To fulfil the ITER requirements in terms of heating and current drive, the negative ion source should deliver 40 A of D−.

Spatial uniformity of negative ion production in volume negative ion source
Review of Scientific Instruments, 2002A spatial uniformity of negative ion production has been studied experimentally in a tandem-type volume negative ion source, where the plasma is divided into two regions by a magnetic filter, i.e., a driver region and an extraction region near the plasma grid (PG). A plasma density profile and the negative ion beam profile were measured.

Numerical analysis of negative ion temperature in a negative ion source
Review of Scientific Instruments, 2004To understand the origin of the two energy groups of volume produced H− ions observed in the multicusp, hybrid-type H− ion source (Camembert III), numerical analysis by the three-dimensional Monte Carlo simulation code has been done. Realistic multicusp geometry and the electric field near the filament are taken into account in the model.

Intense unpolarized negative ion sources
AIP Conference Proceedings, 1982Negative hydrogen ions can be produced a) in hydrogen plasmas, b) by particle scattering or desorption from low workfunction surfaces and c) by electron capture processes of protons or neutrals in a charge exchange cell.

Negative metal ion sources (invited)
Review of Scientific Instruments, 1992A negative metal ion source using plasma sputtering was developed at KEK in 1988 and since then various types of plasma sputter negative metal ion source have been constructed so far at various institutes. In this paper, after theoretical understanding of the negative metal ion formation process on metal surface by plasma sputtering is briefly reviewed,

Negative-ion source applications.
The Review of scientific instruments, 2008In this paper heavy negative-ion sources which we developed and their applications for materials science are reviewed. Heavy negative ions can be effectively produced by the ejection of a sputtered atom through the optimally cesiated surface of target with a low work function.

Gasdynamic ECR ion source for negative ion production
Journal of Instrumentation, 2018H− ion sources are needed in various areas of accelerator technology, such as beam injection into cyclotrons and storage rings and as a part of neutral beam injectors for plasma heating in experimental facilities studying thermonuclear fusion. It was recently demonstrated that gasdynamic ion source based on ECR discharge in a simple mirror trap is very
