A Novel Islanding Detection Technique Based on Positive-Feedback Negative Sequence Current Injection

IEEE transactions on power electronics, 2022
This article proposes a new active anti-islanding technique to detect unintentional islanding with high speed and reliability. In grid-connected mode, the controller has no influence on the power system.

Varying Negative Sequence Virtual Impedance Adaptively for Enhanced Unbalanced Power Sharing Among DGs in Islanded AC Microgrids

IEEE transactions on energy conversion, 2021
Inverter based distributed generators (DGs) are increasingly being employed for interfacing renewable energy sources into the grid. Droop control is a very popular technique for ensuring parallel operation of these sources based on local measurements ...

Impedance-Based Characterization of Positive–Negative Sequence Separation and Its Effects on MMC-HVDC Stability

IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Power Electronics, 2021
Impedance models of modular multilevel converter (MMC) are required to analyze the stability of the MMC high-voltage direct current (HVDC) system. In practical engineering, the positive–negative sequence separation algorithm is the basis of positive and ...

Unbalanced Source Detection in Power Distribution Networks by Negative Sequence Apparent Powers

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2021
Distribution network unbalanced operation is among crucial power quality concerns. Detecting the unbalance sources and their contribution to the network total unbalance with high precision is a prerequisite to alleviate this challenge.

Effect of Inverter-Interfaced Renewable Energy Power Plants on Negative-Sequence Directional Relays and a Solution

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2021
Owing to poor overcurrent capacity and high controllability, inverter-interfaced renewable energy power plants (IIREPPs) exhibit exclusive fault characteristics, which are different from those of conventional synchronous sources.

Compensation of Negative Sequence Component using sequence parameters

2014 International Conference on Circuits, Power and Computing Technologies [ICCPCT-2014], 2014
Current unbalance is frequently encountered power quality problem. Negative sequence current leads to increase in machine temperature and unnecessary tripping of circuit breakers. Unequal phase current and harmonic current causes increased line losses and skin effect.

Negative priming and sequence learning

European Journal of Cognitive Psychology, 2002
Three experiments used a novel sequence learning task, in which participants responded to changes in location of one visual stimulus whilst ignoring another. Experiment 1 demonstrated negative priming effects in this task, in that responses to individual sequence elements were disrupted when the attended stimulus (e.g., red asterisk) appeared at the ...

Negative sequence impedance of converters

IEE Proceedings B Electric Power Applications, 1981
The fundamental frequency behaviour of power convertors to unbalanced supply voltages is described in the paper. The model used caters for the effect of variable unbalance, variable firing angle, different firing systems, and the effect of a noninfinite DC reactance. The results are of use for a wide range of applications, such as HVDC and power drives.

Control of Modular Multilevel Converters Under Singular Unbalanced Voltage Conditions With Equal Positive and Negative Sequence Components

IEEE Power & Energy Society General Meeting, 2020
This paper focuses on the control of Modular Multilevel Converters (MMC) for High Voltage DC (HVDC) applications during unbalanced AC grid voltage sags where positive and negative sequence voltages are equal. The control scheme is based on six arm energy

DNA Sequencing With Positive and Negative Errors

Journal of Computational Biology, 1999
The problem addressed in this paper is concerned with DNA sequencing by hybridization. An algorithm is proposed that solves a computational phase of this approach in the presence of both positive and negative errors resulting from the hybridization experiment. No a priori knowledge of the nature and source of these errors is required.
