Neisseria gonorrhoeae (Gonorrhoea)
1994Gonorrhoea is an infection of the mucosal surfaces of the genitourinary tract and is mainly transmitted by sexual intercourse. In men an acute purulent urethritis usually develops after an incubation period of about 3–5 days. In women a precise incubation period is difficult to determine as approximately 70% or more of infections may cause no symptoms.
