Genetic Parameters and Genome‐Wide Association Studies for Fertility and Reproduction Traits in U.S. Katahdin Sheep Based on the Single‐Step GBLUP Methodology

open access: yesJournal of Animal Breeding and Genetics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Sheep production contributes to a secure and diverse food and fibre supply in the United States, with growing ethnic diversity strengthening demand. Katahdin is a composite hair‐type sheep breed developed in the United States that has become the most popular breed in many regions of the country and the first one to have genomic selection ...

Association of Arterial Stiffness and Lipid Profile in Coronary Artery Disease [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2019
Introduction: Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) is one of the leading causes of death in India. The prevalence of the CAD related mortality in non-diabetic patients is 11%. Increased arterial stiffness may be independently contributing to increased mortality

Genetic Relationships Between Residual Gain and Economically Important Traits in Nellore Cattle

open access: yesJournal of Animal Breeding and Genetics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Sustainable beef production requires identifying animals with superior feed efficiency to reduce environmental impact and production costs. This study aimed to estimate heritability and genetic correlations between residual gain (RG) and growth, reproductive, carcass and feed efficiency traits in Nellore cattle.

Arterial Stiffness and Trace Elements in Apparently Healthy Population-A Cross-sectional Study [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2016
Introduction: Stiffening of arteries is a natural ageing process. Any diseases/disorders or risk factors that escalate oxidative stress, microvascular inflammation and endothelial damage may promote to premature vascular stiffening.

Plasma Pharmacokinetic Profile of Fipronil 1% Pour‐On in Cattle: Photodegradation and the Sustained Systemic Persistence of Fipronil Sulfone

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study characterized the long‐term pharmacokinetic profile of a 1% fipronil pour‐on formulation in Nellore bulls under field conditions. Seventeen animals received a single topical dose (1 mg/kg), and plasma concentrations of fipronil and its metabolites (sulfone and desulfinyl) were monitored for 175 days using LC–MS/MS.
