The Multigeneic _Rhg1_ Locus: A Model For The Effects on Root Development, Nematode Resistance and Recombination Suppression. [PDF]
Soybean (Glycine max L. Merr.) resistance to populations (HgType) of _Heterodera glycines I._, the soybean cyst nematode (SCN), requires a functional allele at rhg1. An apoptosis-like response in the giant cells formed around the nematode results 24-48 h

Defensive Compounds Involved in the Invasiveness of Tithonia diversifolia
Tithonia diversifolia (Hemsl.) A. Gray forms high-density impenetrable monospecific stands as an invasive plant species. Its life history traits, such as high adaptability with high genetic variation under different environmental conditions, and high ...

Slugs can challenge crop plants grown in no‐till fields. Our results confirm that higher levels of slug feeding can be detrimental to maize plants, but low levels of herbivory by slugs can unexpectedly increase plant growth and occasionally yield. Abstract BACKGROUND In contrast to herbivorous insect pests, relatively little attention has been given to

Baylisascaris procyonis Roundworm in Common Raccoon (Procyon lotor), Mexico
We found the zoonotic nematode, Baylisascaris procyonis, in a common raccoon (Procyon lotor) in Mexico. Expansion of raccoons into human-dominated regions might increase the risk of B. procyonis infections in humans.

This study discusses a promising new attractive targeted sugar bait (ATSB) technology using yeast that expresses shRNA targeting essential genes in the fruit pest spotted‐wing drosophila (SWD). The yeast, which is delivered using soda as a sugar bait, could one day be an effective component in integrated SWD control programs.

We propose the regulatory particle non‐ATPase subunit 6 of the 26S proteasome as a first good promising RNA interference target candidate to control the Japanese beetle Popillia japonica. This will help to optimize a double‐stranded RNA insecticide against this priority pest with low off‐target effects on pollinators on a gene sequence‐based prediction.
