Nematomorpha from the Philippines, with description of two new species
Zootaxa, 2016With the exception of one species, no horsehair worms (Nematomorpha) were known to date from the Philippines. We report here several records, almost all from Panay Island. Two species, Gordius jorriti and Acutogordius finni, are described as new species. Two species of Chordodes, C. caledoniensis and C. cf. moutoni, were found.

Are the genera of Nematomorpha monophyletic taxa?
Zoologica Scripta, 2002Twenty‐two genera of horsehair worms (Nematomorpha) have been described to date, one (Nectonema) from the marine environment and the remaining ones (taxon Gordiida) from freshwater. The aim of this investigation was to test whether the genera represent monophyletic taxa or are likely to be paraphyletic assemblages.

2013Horsehair (Gordian) worms (phylum Nematomorpha) are extremely elongated cylindrical worms often exceeding 20 cm in length. The diameter of their unsegmented body is chiefly less than 1 mm. Their colour is light brown or reddish. Body surface is covered with thick, more-or-less hardened cuticle.
