Horsehair Worms (Phylum Nematomorpha) in Lake Michigan

Journal of Great Lakes Research, 1990
Horsehair worms, Gordius robustus, were collected on four occasions during 3 years along the shore of Lake Michigan in Door County, Wisconsin. These apparently represent the first published records from a Great Lakes environment. Although they are a predictable component of the benthic fauna at the study site, horsehair worms probably do not ...

Horsehair Worms: Nematomorpha; Roundworms: Nematoda

2013
Horsehair (Gordian) worms (phylum Nematomorpha) are extremely elongated cylindrical worms often exceeding 20 cm in length. The diameter of their unsegmented body is chiefly less than 1 mm. Their colour is light brown or reddish. Body surface is covered with thick, more-or-less hardened cuticle.

Cycloneuralia (Nematoda, Nematomorpha, Priapulida, Kinorhyncha, Loricifera)

2015
AbstractThe taxon Cycloneuralia includes Nematoda, Nematomorpha, Priapulida, Kinorhyncha and Loricifera. The name-giving autapomorphy of this taxon is the so-called cycloneuralian brain. In this type of brain the neuropil forms a ring around the anterior intestinal system, while the somata of the brain nerve cells form clusters anterior and posterior ...

Are the genera of Nematomorpha monophyletic taxa?

Zoologica Scripta, 2002
Twenty‐two genera of horsehair worms (Nematomorpha) have been described to date, one (Nectonema) from the marine environment and the remaining ones (taxon Gordiida) from freshwater. The aim of this investigation was to test whether the genera represent monophyletic taxa or are likely to be paraphyletic assemblages.

???????????????????????????? ???????????????????? ?? ???????????????????? (Cephalorhyncha, Nematomorpha)

2014
Based on the analysis of available data, the ability of nematomorph infective larvae to paratenic parasitism was confirmed. Distribution of paratenic parasitism among nematomorphs was estimated for the first time. The range of vertebrate and invertebrate paratenic hosts of these parasites is indicated with estimation of the role of certain paratenic ...
