Neodymium-neodymium hydride phase system
Journal of the Less Common Metals, 1971Abstract The phase relationships between neodymium and neodymium hydride have been established. Hydrogen in solution increases the melting point of neodymium and lowers the α−β transformation temperature. A metal-rich intermediate phase was found between 680° and 880°C. The solid immiscibility gap seemed to close above 1150°C.

Characterization of neodymium trichloride hydrates and neodymium hydroxychloride
Journal of the Less Common Metals, 1990Abstract Neodymium trichloride hexahydrate (NdCl3 · 6H2O) was dehydrated by heating it in either air, argon, HCl or argon-HCl mixtures to germinate the intermediate species. The hexahydrate (NdCl3 · 6H2O) was found to decompose to pentahydrate (NdCl3 · 5H2O) which in turn decomposed to tetrahydrate (NdCl3 · 4H2O). The latter decomposed to monohydrate

Neodymium Laser Cyclocoagulation
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1973Nineteen neodymium laser cyclocoagulations were performed on 18 glaucomatous eyes. Thirteen eyes can be considered successfully treated if a criterion of an intraocular pressure of 30 mm Hg or less is used. All 18 eyes are now pain-free. Neodymium cyclocoagulation seems as effective as ruby cyclocoagulation in blue and brown eyes, and may possibly be ...

SUMMARY We used a CW-YAG endolaser to photocoagulate the fundus of the rabbit and monkey. We varied the power settings, exposure durations, and probe-retina distances to establish the parameters for threshold and bursting (choroidal hemorrhage)lesions.

On the Incorporation of Neodymium in Mixed Yttrium-Neodymium-Iron Garnets
Journal of Applied Physics, 1960The preparation and saturation magnetization of yttrium-iron garnets containing various amounts of neodymium was investigated. The amount of Nd which can be incorporated in the garnet structure was determined crystallographically and magnetically. The chemical analysis of the Nd/Y ratio was carried out by the counting of the characteristic x rays of Nd

Synthesis of neodymium aluminide by aluminothermic reduction of neodymium oxide
Metallurgical and Materials Transactions B, 1998Neodymium aluminide was synthesized from Nd2O3 under vacuum by aluminothermic reduction in an induction furnace. Although the standard free energy change associated with the reduction of Nd2O3 by Al is positive, due to the formation reaction of the intermetallic compound, it was possible to drive the reaction in the forward direction in the presence of

Retina, 1996
More than 83 cases of retinal laser injury were reported in the literature. Most of these cases involved direct exposure of the patient's retina to laser. The authors observed two patients who had laser injury to the retina caused by the reflected beams from a pulsed neodymium: YAG (Nd:YAG) laser. The clinical course of each patient after laser injury ...

Results of neodymium-YAG laser iridotomy in 34 eyes with narrow drainage angles are reported. Irido-tomies appeared patent on slit-lamp examination in 32 (94%) eyes. Complications included failed patency of iridotomy and acute elevation of intraocular pressure.
