Characterization of Lophiotoma leucotropis Mitochondrial Genome of Family Turridae and Phylogenetic Considerations within the Neogastropoda [PDF]

open access: yesAnimals
Neogastropoda is a group of marine organisms with an extremely wide distribution that is rich in species and economic and ornamental values, the classification of species in this order has been ongoing for a long time, but there is still a great ...

The complete mitochondrial genome of marine gastropod Melo melo (neogastropoda: volutoidea) [PDF]

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2019
Melo melo is an ecologically and economically important species of Neogastropoda, which is an ecologically diverse group of carnivorous marine gastropods. However, the taxonomic classification and phylogenetic studies have so far been limited.

The first complete mitochondrial genome of Mitridae from Mitra chinensis (Neogastropoda: Volutoidea) [PDF]

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2020
Miters including Mitra chinensis are important fishery resources in China. However, the phylogenetic and taxonomic studies in Mitridae have been limited. In this study, we report the first complete mitochondrial genome of M. chinensis. The mitogenome has

Neogastropod (Mollusca, Gastropoda) phylogeny: A step forward with mitogenomes. [PDF]

open access: yesZool Scr, 2022
Abstract The Neogastropoda (Mollusca, Gastropoda) encompass more than 15,000 described species of marine predators, including several model organisms in toxinology, embryology and physiology. However, their phylogenetic relationships remain mostly unresolved and their classification unstable.

The CODEX Approach: High-Throughput Sequencing of the Cox-1 Barcode Fragment in Neogastropods (Mollusca, Gastropoda). [PDF]

open access: yesMol Ecol Resour
ABSTRACT DNA barcoding traditionally relies on Sanger sequencing but faces limitations with degraded samples. High‐throughput sequencing (HTS) offers a cost‐effective alternative, enabling rapid barcode generation for extensive datasets. The advantage of HTS is its ability to employ multiplexing strategies, allowing thousands of samples to be processed

The complete mitochondrial genome of marine gastropod Sydaphera spengleriana (Deshayes, 1830) (Neogastropoda: Cancellariidae) [PDF]

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2022
The complete mitochondrial genome of Sydaphera spengleriana was characterized for the first time. The total length of the mitogenome was 16,336 bp including a standard set of 13 protein-coding (PCGs), 22 transfer RNA (tRNA), and 2 ribosomal RNA (rRNA ...

Multi-omics characterization of toxin expression and producing organs in the predatory gastropods Monoplex corrugatus and Stramonita haemastoma [PDF]

open access: yesBMC Genomics
Background The exploration of toxin diversity is crucial for understanding the evolutionary adaptation of venomous taxa. Despite being active venomous predators, neogastropods are largely understudied beyond Conidae.

Evolution of Duplicated Hox Gene Clusters in Land Snails and Slugs. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Exp Zool B Mol Dev Evol
Molluscs of the order Stylommatophora underwent an ancient genome duplication. We show that stylommatophoran snails and slugs have two broken and incomplete Hox gene clusters; HoxA generally has 9 genes, HoxB usually has 7 genes. After duplication of an ancestral 11‐gene Hox cluster, there was patchwork retention of duplicated genes.
