This study provides the first isotopic analysis of Oligocene mammals from Quebrada Fiera, Mendoza, Argentina, filling a major gap in South American paleontology. It reveals a latitudinal gradient in aridity due to the Andean rain shadow and highlights the role of (semi)permanent water bodies in sustaining diverse herbivore communities. Additionally, it

ABSTRACT This study shows an innovative approach to determine the origin of some Calabrian rocks quarried used in ancient times. Twenty‐five quarries, distributed in all the Calabrian provinces (Southern Italy), were studied and sampled. Ten samples were taken from each quarry, for a total of 250 samples.

Synchroneity of major late Neogene sea level fluctuations and paleoceanographically controlled changes as recorded by two carbonate platforms [PDF]
Shallow-water carbonate systems are reliable recorders of sea level fluctuations and changes in ambient seawater conditions. Drilling results from Ocean Drilling Program (ODP) Legs 133 and 166 indicate that the timing of late Neogene sedimentary breaks ...

Diversity of late Neogene Monachinae (Carnivora, Phocidae) from the North Atlantic, with the description of two new species [PDF]
While the diversity of ‘southern seals’, or Monachinae, in the North Atlantic realm is currently limited to the Mediterranean monk seal, Monachus monachus, their diversity was much higher during the late Miocene and Pliocene.

We summarize the current state of knowledge on the age of the Middle Pleistocene ice advances into northern central Europe and provide 25 new single‐grain feldspar luminescence ages of Elsterian and Saalian glacigenic sediments to constrain the age of the ice advances and their tentative correlation with marine isotope stages/substages.
