Quantifying soil carbon accumulation in Alaskan terrestrial ecosystems during the last 15 000 years [PDF]
Northern high latitudes contain large amounts of soil organic carbon (SOC), of which Alaskan terrestrial ecosystems account for a substantial proportion.

Thermokarst lake inception and development in syngenetic ice-wedge polygon terrain during a cooling climatic trend, Bylot Island (Nunavut), eastern Canadian Arctic [PDF]
Thermokarst lakes are widespread and diverse across permafrost regions, and they are considered significant contributors to global greenhouse gas emissions.

We provide a geomorphological analysis of Cordillera Vilcanota and use morphostratigraphic principles to reconstruct palaeo icefield extent and palaeoglacier readvances, likely during the Antarctic Cold Reversal and Younger Dryas. We find evidence of temperate and polythermal ice margins, with limited glaciofluvial landform generation.

ABSTRACT The aim of this work is to study a variety of glacial, periglacial and paraglacial features found in a small cirque, Fremri‐Grasárdalur, in Tröllaskagi (Northern Iceland). We implement a multidisciplinary approach combining high‐resolution geomorphological mapping, horizontal/vertical boulder displacement (from 1994 to 2019) and surface ...

Glacier response to North Atlantic climate variability during the Holocene [PDF]
Small glaciers and ice caps respond rapidly to climate variations, and records of their past extent provide information on the natural envelope of past climate variability.

High Resolution Arctic Iodine Variability Since the Last Glacial Termination
Abstract Tropospheric iodine plays a key role in ozone depletion and new particle formation. Understanding how iodine responds to climatic shifts is crucial for predicting future atmospheric composition. Here, we present high‐resolution iodine fluxes in the EGRIP (East GReenland Ice Core Project) ice core in central Greenland spanning the last 15.7 kyr.

Rapid mass movements triggered by an atmospheric river in Disko Island, West Greenland
In early July 2023, a series of rapid mass movements was triggered by extreme precipitation carried by an atmospheric river in Disko Island, West Greenland. During 18 h total precipitation reached up to 115 mm, causing more than 150 slushflows in different areas of the island and substantial damage to some infrastructure close to the Qeqertarsuaq ...

ABSTRACT We report 43 new 10Be exposure ages and six 26Al/10Be measurements from replicates from a small piedmont mountain glacier located at Cape Farewell (south Greenland) and temperature anomalies estimated from equilibrium‐line altitude (ELA) changes derived from 3D glacier reconstruction carried out using the ‘GlaRe’ toolbox.

ABSTRACT Understanding postglacial ontogeny in Arctic lakes helps contextualize modern‐day climatic change. We used sediment cores to characterize ecological succession in three south‐central Baffin Island lakes from deglaciation (c. 7–8k cal a BP) to present.
