Study protocol for a randomised cross-over trial of Neurally adjusted ventilatory Assist for Neonates with Congenital diaphragmatic hernias: the NAN-C study

open access: yesTrials
Background Neurally adjusted ventilatory assist (NAVA) is a mode of mechanical ventilation that delivers oxygen pressures in proportion to electrical signals of the diaphragm.

Once we were bacteria… mitochondria to infinity and beyond

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric and Neonatal Individualized Medicine, 2018
Mitochondria, cytoplasmic organelles originated from endosymbiotic bacteria, can be metaphorically described using “Janus bifrons” image, due to their involvement in life, providing cellular energy and resulting essential even for stem cells, but playing

Loss of SOCS1 in Donor T Cells Exacerbates Intestinal GVHD by Driving a Chemokine‐Dependent Pro‐Inflammatory Immune Microenvironment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
T cell‐specific Socs1 knockout leads to inflammatory differentiation of CD8+ T cells, prompting the STAT1/2 complex to drive the activation of Ccl5, Ccr5, and Cxcr3, and promoting the skewing of monocytes toward a pro‐inflammatory M1 macrophage lineage.

Reprogramming the Myocardial Infarction Conductive Microenvironment with Superconductive Ionic Patch for Cardiac Function Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A super‐conductive ionic patch reprograms the post‐infarction microenvironment by enabling stable ionic migration and electrical signal transmission within damaged myocardium. The patch rapidly adheres to cardiac tissue, enhances conduction velocity, suppresses excitation‐contraction decoupling, and promotes structural and functional cardiac repair in ...

Connexin 26 Functions as a Direct Transcriptional Regulator During the Cochlea Development

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Connexin26 can not only form intercellular channels that mediate rapid communication on the cell membrane, but also enter the nucleus as a transcription factor to directly regulate the transcription of nuclear genes. In the developing cochlea, Cx26 can control the maturation of the molecular scissor ADAM10 by regulating the transcription of TspanC8 ...

PDA management in preterm infants: keep your hands off the ductus!

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric and Neonatal Individualized Medicine, 2014
The current management of a patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) in preterm infants is fundamentally aimed at the closure of ductus through the cyclooxygenase (Cox)-inhibitors or surgical ligation in case of failure.

IGF‐1 Deficiency Serves as an Integrated Biomarker Pathogenic Driver and Predictor in Poor Ovarian Response

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
IGF‐1 deficiency underlies poor ovarian response (POR), as reduced levels in follicular fluid and granulosa cells impair antral follicle formation and compromise reproductive outcomes. Including IGF‐1 as a biomarker significantly enhances the accuracy of models predicting both PORrisk and pregnancy success.

Connexin43 Deficiency Leads to Ventricular Arrhythmias by Reprogramming Proline Metabolism

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The study demonstrated that connexin43 (Cx43) knockout caused arrhythmic phenotype and decreased proline content in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, Cx43 interacts with the amino acid transporter SNAT2 (sodium‐dependent neutral amino acid transporter), and its deficiency disrupts proline transport and metabolism.
