Neonatal mortality in the developing world [PDF]
This paper examines age patterns and trends of early and late neonatal mortality in developing countries, using birth history data from the Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS). Data quality was assessed both by examination of internal consistency and by

Reducing neonatal mortality in rural Ghana: understanding current newborn care practices and their cultural context [PDF]
Dramatic improvements have been made in child survival over the last 30 years. However, despite the gains of the child survival revolution, neonatal mortality rates have stagnated as infant and child mortality has decreased. Every year 4 million newborns

During kainic acid‐induced epileptogenesis, astrocyte‐associated ATP‐binding cassette transporter A1 (ABCA1) and apolipoprotein E (APOE) responses accompany ectopic neurons and exploratory lipid alterations. In separate cohorts, bexarotene pretreatment and treatment on days 14–21 are associated with fewer ectopic hilar neurons and lower chronic seizure

A distinct astrocyte subpopulation, enriched at the lesion border, drives CNS repair through enhanced ketone body metabolism. This process promotes neuronal survival and axonal sparing via CPT1A stabilization and H3K9bhb‐dependent epigenetic reprogramming, positioning astrocytic ketogenesis as a promising therapeutic target for tissue regeneration ...

Macrophage GLUD1 is Essential for Redox Balance and Immune Homeostasis in Cardiac Injury
Excessive free radical production and dysregulated immune responses are key contributors to myocardial ischemia‐reperfusion (IR) injury. Macrophage GLUD1 activity safeguards against HIF‐1α accumulation and maladaptive responses to IR‐induced ROS production.

Suggested health services research action to achieve reduction of neonatal mortality in India [PDF]
Despite several national programs to reduce infant mortality, India had repeatedly failed to achieve its set targets for infant mortality. There are approximately one million neonatal deaths in India each year which accounts for nearly two-thirds of the ...

Melatonin engages MT1/MT2 receptors to suppress STAT1‐driven USP18 upregulation, thereby redirecting PKM2 ubiquitination from K33‐linked autophagic degradation toward K27‐linked nuclear translocation. This prevents PKM2‐mediated proinflammatory gene expression in the heart, alleviating doxorubicin‐induced cardiotoxicity without compromising antitumor ...

Efoba, a novel bioactive component derived from aged garlic, confers neuroprotection against intracerebral hemorrhage. It acts on microglia to suppress CTSC release, inhibits NET‐mediated neural injury, and blocks pathological microglia‐neutrophil crosstalk. This study provides a highly promising lead compound for hemorrhagic‐stroke therapy.

ABSTRACT Microdeletions impacting 15q11.2 breakpoint (BP) 1 to BP2, adjacent to the Prader–Willi critical region, have previously described neuropsychiatric associations, with potential low penetrance presentations of congenital heart disease (CHD) also identified.
