Peer review of the pesticide risk assessment for bees for the active substance imidacloprid considering the uses as seed treatments and granules

open access: yesEFSA Journal, 2018
The EFSA was asked by the European Commission to perform an updated risk assessment of neonicotinoids, including imidacloprid, as regards the risk to bees, as a follow‐up of previous mandates received from the European Commission on neonicotinoids.

Larval Pollen Stress Increases Adult Susceptibility to Clothianidin in Honey Bees

open access: yesInsects, 2019
Neonicotinoid insecticides have come under scrutiny for their potential role in honey bee declines. Additionally, reduced access to forage in agricultural areas creates the potential for risk interactions with these pesticides in regions critical for ...

Life stage dependent effects of neonicotinoid exposure on honey bee hypopharyngeal gland development

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety
Functional Apis mellifera honey bee colonies rely on collaborative brood care typically performed by nurse bees with well-developed hypopharyngeal glands (HPGs).

Interference of ATP‐Binding Cassette Transporter by Functional Nano‐Delivery System for High Efficiency Management of Insecticide‐Resistant Nilaparvata lugens

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A ZIF‐90 nanocarrier delivers dinotefuran and suppresses NlABCG3 and NlABCH1 in resistant Nilaparvata lugens. This system combines pH/ATP‐triggered release with enhanced foliar retention, improving efficacy while sparing honeybees and promoting rice growth, offering a promising resistance‐breaking strategy.

Glutathione-S-Transferase Response Towards Imidacloprid in Honeybees (Apis mellifera L.) [PDF]

open access: yesArab Universities Journal of Agricultural Sciences
Imidacloprid is a systematic neonicotinoid widely used to combat piercing-sucking insects; however, neonicotinoids, despite having low effects on vertebrates, showed high adverse effects on honeybees (Apis mellifera L.).
