PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Integration of Next-Generation Sequencing in Measurable Residual Disease Monitoring in Acute Myeloid Leukemia and Myelodysplastic Neoplasm

open access: yesCancers
Background/Objectives. Recent evidence underscores the prognostic and classificatory relevance of somatic mutations in myelodysplastic neoplasms (MDSs) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Methods. This prospective study assessed gene mutation dynamics via next-generation sequencing (NGS) in 84 MDS/AML patients treated with intensive chemotherapy or ...

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Tagraxofusp maintenance post-hematopoietic stem cell transplantation provides long-term survival and manageable safety for a patient with blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm

open access: yesLeukemia Research Reports
Presented here is the case of a 68-year-old woman with blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm (BPDCN) treated with tagraxofusp (TAG) maintenance therapy post-allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HCT).

Effect of Pre- and Peri-Transplant Measurable Residual Disease Clearance in Patients with Myelodysplastic Neoplasm; A Referral Center Experience

open access: yesTransplantation and Cellular Therapy
Introduction Measurable residual disease (MRD) has emerged as a potential prognostic marker for allogeneic stem cell transplant (HSCT) outcomes in various hematologic malignancies. However, the MRD status in myelodysplastic neoplasm (MDS) or myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative neoplasm (MDS/MPN ...

Bridging the gap: Multi‐stakeholder perspectives of molecular diagnostics in oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Although molecular diagnostics is transforming cancer care, implementing novel technologies remains challenging. This study identifies unmet needs and technology requirements through a two‐step stakeholder involvement. Liquid biopsies for monitoring applications and predictive biomarker testing emerge as key unmet needs. Technology requirements vary by

Adenosine‐to‐inosine editing of miR‐200b‐3p is associated with the progression of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A‐to‐I editing of miRNAs, particularly miR‐200b‐3p, contributes to HGSOC progression by enhancing cancer cell proliferation, migration and 3D growth. The edited form is linked to poorer patient survival and the identification of novel molecular targets.

Angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia treated with Mohs micrographic surgery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
A 60-year-old healthy man presented with several enlarging, tender, spontaneously bleeding, and episodically pruritic nodules on his ear. Five agminated pink-red papulonodules of the superior postauricular sulcus were noted on examination.

Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell

Revisiting the mortality of France and Italy with the multiple-cause-of-death approach [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper, we use the multiple cause-of-death approach to compare the mortality profiles of France and Italy in 2003. Our analysis leads to a substantial re-evaluation of the role played by certain conditions in the process leading to death ...
