Order-of-mutation effects on cancer progression: models for myeloproliferative neoplasm [PDF]
We develop a modeling framework for cancer progression that distinguishes the order of two possible mutations. Recent observations and information on myeloproliferative neoplasms are analyzed within our framework. In some patients with myeloproliferative neoplasms, two genetic mutations can be found, JAK2 V617F and TET2.

BlazeNeo: Blazing fast polyp segmentation and neoplasm detection [PDF]
In recent years, computer-aided automatic polyp segmentation and neoplasm detection have been an emerging topic in medical image analysis, providing valuable support to colonoscopy procedures. Attentions have been paid to improving the accuracy of polyp detection and segmentation.

Follicular nodules (Thy3) of the thyroid: is total thyroidectomy the best option? [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Identification of the best management strategy for nodules with Thy3 cytology presents particular problems for clinicians. This study investigates the ability of clinical, cytological and sonographic data to predict malignancy in ...

Expanding the Immunophenotypic Spectrum of Neoplastic and Reactive Plasmacytoid Dendritic Cells.
OBJECTIVES Targeted therapies for blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm (BPDCN) have presented a diagnostic dilemma for differentiating residual BPDCN from reactive plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) because these conditions have a similar ...

Frequency and significance of Ras, Tert promoter, and Braf mutations in cytologically indeterminate thyroid nodules: A monocentric case series at a tertiary-level Endocrinology unit [PDF]
PurposeThe management of thyroid nodules of indeterminate cytology is controversial. Our study aimed to establish the frequency and significance of H-,K-,N-RAS, TERT promoter, and BRAF gene mutations in thyroid nodes of indeterminate cytology and to ...

Perspectives on interferon-alpha in the treatment of polycythemia vera and related myeloproliferative neoplasms: minimal residual disease and cure? [PDF]
The first clinical trials of the safety and efficacy of interferon-alpha2 (IFN-alpha2) were performed about 30 years ago. Since then, several single-arm studies have convincingly demonstrated that IFN-alpha2 is a highly potent anti-cancer agent in several cancer types but unfortunately not being explored sufficiently due to a high toxicity profile when

NeoUNet: Towards accurate colon polyp segmentation and neoplasm detection [PDF]
Automatic polyp segmentation has proven to be immensely helpful for endoscopy procedures, reducing the missing rate of adenoma detection for endoscopists while increasing efficiency. However, classifying a polyp as being neoplasm or not and segmenting it at the pixel level is still a challenging task for doctors to perform in a limited time.

Monitoring Residual Disease in the Ph-Negative Myeloproliferative Neoplasms Post-Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplantation: More Mutations and More Methodologies [PDF]
The Philadelphia chromosome-negative myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN) are a group of clonal hematopoietic diseases characterized by bone marrow proliferation of one or more of the myeloid cell lineages with no marked alterations in cellular maturation.

Higher order organizational features can distinguish protein interaction networks of disease classes: a case study of neoplasms and neurological diseases [PDF]
Neoplasms (NPs) and neurological diseases and disorders (NDDs) are amongst the major classes of diseases underlying deaths of a disproportionate number of people worldwide. To determine if there exist some distinctive features in the local wiring patterns of protein interactions emerging at the onset of a disease belonging to either of these two ...
