Bioorthogonal Photoactivation of 2‐Nitrobenzyl Caged Doxorubicin Anticancer Prodrugs on Gold Nanostars

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Bioorthogonal chemistry was applied to intracellularly photoactivate Doxorubicin (Dox) using gold nanostars (AuNSt) and near‐infrared (NIR) light. Two prodrugs were used: one photoactivatable, masked with 2‐nitrobenzyl carbamate (proDox1) and another photolabile, masked with 2‐nitrobenzyl diol (proDox2), which was attached to the AuNSt surface.

Solitary fibrous tumour of the submandibular region: a rare entity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Solitary fibrous tumours of the head and neck region are extremely rare. The clinical diagnosis is often difficult to establish, and this lesion may be indistinguishable from other soft tissue neoplasms.

European Society of Biomechanics SM Perren Award 2010 : an adaptation mechanism for fibrous tissue to sustained shortening

open access: yes, 2010
The mechanism by which fibrous tissues adapt upon alterations in their mechanical environment remains unresolved. Here, we determine that periosteum in chick embryos resides in an identical mechanical state, irrespective of the developmental stage.

Rare neoplasms

open access: yes, 2014
Although interest in pancreatic pathology is very high in the radiological and gastroenterological communities, it is still the case that less is known about pathology of the pancreas than about liver pathology, for example.
