Neospora spp. and Toxoplasma gondii antibodies in horses in the Czech Republic

Parasitology Research, 2010
During January 2007, blood samples were collected from 552 healthy horses from nine different regions of the Czech Republic. Sera were tested for serum antibodies to Neospora caninum by a competitive-inhibition enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and confirmed by an indirect fluorescent antibody test.

Horses Seropositive for Neospora spp.: Immunoglobulins, Cytokines, and C-Reactive Protein Levels

Journal of Equine Veterinary Science, 2014
Abstract Neosporosis is a disease known to cause reproductive problems in cattle. In horses, the disease is caused by the protozoa Neospora caninum and/or Neospora hughesi, but little is known about this infection in this species. Therefore, the aim of this study was to quantify the levels of immunoglobulins (Igs), cytokines, and acute phase protein ...

Sarcocystis neurona and Neospora caninum in Brazilian opossums (Didelphis spp.): Molecular investigation and in vitro isolation of Sarcocystis spp.

Veterinary Parasitology, 2017
Sarcocystis neurona and Neospora spp. are protozoan parasites that induce neurological diseases in horses and other animal species. Opossums (Didelphis albiventris and Didelphis virginiana) are definitive hosts of S. neurona, which is the major cause of equine protozoal myeloencephalitis (EPM).

Association between the presence of serum antibodies against Neospora spp. and fetal loss in equines

Veterinary Parasitology, 2006
A study of the association between the presence of serum antibodies against Neospora spp. and fetal loss was performed using serum samples of horses submitted to the laboratory for the detection of antibodies to Equine Herpesvirus-1 and Equine Infectious Anemia Virus.

Study of specific immunodominant antigens in different stages of Neospora caninum, Toxoplasma gondii, Sarcocystis spp. and Hammondia spp.

Experimental Parasitology
The family Sarcocystidae includes several intracellular coccidial parasites such as Toxoplasma gondii, Neospora caninum, Sarcocystis spp. and Hammondia spp. with heteroxenous life cycles involving different parasitic stages (oocysts/sporocysts, tachyzoites and bradyzoites in tissue cysts). The aim of this work was to evaluate monoclonal antibodies (MAb)
