Neotectonic study of Northwestern Greece

open access: yesJournal of Maps, 2018
In this paper, a neotectonic map with active faults, at a scale of 1:500,000, of the northwestern Greece is presented and discussed. The elaboration of the Neotectonic Map chiefly aimed at the identification, mapping and assessment of the faults in the ...

Tectonic Structure of the Island of Hvar (Southern Croatia)

open access: yesGeologia Croatica, 2010
Structural deformation of the island of Hvar allows three tangentialtectonic phases to be determined: the Laramian (F I), the Pyrenean,( F II) and the Neotectonic phase (F III ).

Neotectonics, flooding patterns and landscape evolution in southern Amazonia [PDF]

open access: yesEarth Surface Dynamics, 2014
The paper examines the role of neotectonic activity in the evolution of the landscape in southern Amazonia during the Holocene. It uses both new and published data based on the analysis of remote sensing imagery and extensive field work in the Llanos de ...

Neotectonics of the Sumatran fault, Indonesia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
The 1900-km-long, trench-parallel Sumatran fault accommodates a significant amount of the right-lateral component of oblique convergence between the Eurasian and Indian/Australian plates from 10°N to 7°S.

Exploring the Relationship Between Stress State and Fault Stability at the Hikurangi Subduction Margin, New Zealand

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 130, Issue 10, October 2025.
Abstract The Hikurangi Subduction Margin (HSM), New Zealand is characterized by along‐strike variation in slip behavior, linked to spatial‐temporal variations of plate interface coupling, tectonic stresses, and pore fluid pressures (Pp) in the overriding plate.

Tectonic evolution of the southern part of Central Viet Nam and the adjacent area

open access: yesГеодинамика и тектонофизика, 2018
Interpretations of seismic, gravity and magnetic anomalies and structural data on the coastal zone of southern part of Central Viet Nam (SCVN) and the adjacent Tertiary basins suggest several phases in the tectonic evolution of the study region since the

Revisión de la tectónica activa de los Pirineos [PDF]

open access: yes
The Pyrenees have experienced at least seven earthquakes with magnitude M > 5 in the last 400 years. During the last decades, several seismotectonic, neotectonic and paleoseismological studies have focused on identifying the main active structures of ...

Rupture of the 1949 Khait Earthquake on a Cryptic Fault: Implications for Earthquake Hazard

open access: yesTectonics, Volume 44, Issue 10, October 2025.
Abstract The 1949 Mw 7.6 Khait earthquake, Tajikistan, was one of the most destructive of the Pamir—Tien Shan region, killing over 7,000 people by building collapse and landsliding. It occurred at the transition between the Pamir and Tien Shan mountain ranges, which converge along the narrow Vashkh river valley.

Kinematic Evolution of the Cephalonia‐Lefkada Transform Fault Zone: Strain Partitioning in Response to Subduction Margin Dynamics

open access: yesTectonics, Volume 44, Issue 10, October 2025.
Abstract The eastern Adriatic margin is composed by an Ocean‐Continent Transition lithosphere (OCT), resulting in the southwards along‐strike variation from collision to subduction. The Cephalonia‐Lefkada Transform Fault zone (CTF) is a right‐lateral strike‐slip fault system located above the OCT and associated to this kinematic transition.
