Conservation science struggles with an ongoing divide between research and action. We discussed examples of successful solutions‐oriented avian conservation science. Successes were characterized by communication, collaboration, and co‐development with local communities, decision‐makers, practitioners, and Indigenous communities.

In this study, we found moderate to strong repeatabilities in behavioural variables measuring the personality traits: activity, aggressiveness and exploration. Similarly, the probability of acting as a leader during tandem running in an emigration event was moderately (R = 0.469) repeatable.

External structures at the nest‐site predict asymmetric architecture of nests in a mud‐building bird
In the animal kingdom, nests are essential structures and textbook examples of extended phenotypes. However, the relationship between builders, nest traits and the nest‐site remains poorly understood. We indirectly examine whether structures in the nest‐site influence nest‐building behaviour, specifically focusing on their effect on nest architecture ...

Bony fish genomes: Status and gaps
Abstract Bony fish constitute an exceptionally species‐rich group of aquatic vertebrates, comprising more than 95% of all living fish. The adaptive processes on the diversity of environments they inhabit make them a highly diverse group from taxonomic, morphological and evolutionary standpoints.

Abstract Dietary analysis has contributed to our understanding of animal niches, interspecific interactions, community structure and the flow of matter and energy in food webs. We employed three methods of dietary analysis to estimate trophic niche overlap between two peacock bass species, Cichla cataractae and Cichla ocellaris, across sympatric ...
