Genetic Resources of Freshwater Neotropical Fishes
2017South American rivers contain the most diverse, but also one of the more poorly known, freshwater fish faunas of the world. While significant progress is being made on understanding the systematics and taxonomy of Neotropical fish groups (Malabarba et al.

Morphologically differentiated sex chromosomes in neotropical freshwater fish
Genetica, 2001A general survey of the occurrence of morphologically differentiated sex chromosomes in the neotropical freshwater fishes is presented. The total number of 32 occurrences involving simple XX-XY and ZZ-ZW, and multiple X1X2Y, XY1Y2 and ZW1W2 sex chromosome systems is described, with comments on the aspects of sex chromosome evolution in this fish fauna.

Karyotypic evolution in Neotropical freshwater fish
2000The largest freshwater fish fauna of the world is found in the Neotropical region and includes 2500 to 2700 known species [1], and a total number of species that may actually reach 5000 [2]. Until the late seventies not much was known about the cytogenetic characteristics of these fish and the cytogenetic data available about the Neotropical fish fauna

Gondwana and neotropical galaxioid fish biogeography
1984The galaxioids, Southern Hemisphere salmoniforms (i.e. Galaxiidae, Aplochitonidae, Retropinnidae and Pro-totroctidae), are found in Australia, New Zealand, New Caledonia, South America and South Africa, and include 4 families, 11 genera, and about 45 species.

Genomic landscape of repetitive DNAs in Neotropical electric fishes
Molecular Genetics and GenomicsThe Neotropical electric fishes of the order Gymnotiformes, known for their unique electrogenic and electrosensory systems, provide exceptional models for investigating ecological and evolutionary questions. While their phylogenetic and cytogenetic diversity is well documented, information about the diversity and evolution of repetitive DNA in ...
