neotyphodium spp.- grass association in natural grassland in Argentina
The agronomic importance of the grass-endophyte association became apparent after it was linked to livestock diseases. This paper reports the incidence of endophytes in natural grasslands in Argentina from data collected through grass seed collections, tillers and culms from natural grasslands.

Hybridization of Neotyphodium endophytes enhances competitive ability of the host grass [PDF]
Summary Associations with microbial symbionts may lead to niche differentiation of their host. Vertically transmitted Neotyphodium endophytes of grasses often hybridize in nature. Infection by these hybrid symbionts may result in different host–plant phenotypes from those caused as a result of infection by nonhybrid symbionts.

Biotic and abiotic modulation of drought effects on aphids and plants
Drought affects aphids, plants and their relationships (solid arrows). This study provides a quantitative synthesis of how biotic and abiotic factors modulate the effect of drought on aphids and plants at molecular to community scales (dashed arrows). Out of 329 pair‐wise relationships (drought‐biotic and drought‐abiotic) retrieved from the literature,

Fungal endometritis associated with embryonic loss in a maiden mare
Summary Fungal endometritis and placentitis have been reported as a rare but important cause of infertility in the mare. There are no reported clinical cases of fungal endometritis causing embryonic loss in the mare. This case report aims to highlight the potential of fungal endometritis as an aetiological agent in embryonic loss in the mare; an ...

Contribution of Fungal Loline Alkaloids to Protection from Aphids in a Grass-Endophyte Mutualism
Fungal endophytes provide grasses with enhanced protection from herbivory, drought, and pathogens. The loline alkaloids (saturated 1-aminopyrrolizidines with an oxygen bridge) are fungal metabolites often present in grasses with fungal endophytes of the ...

Abdominal fat necrosis in three Vietnamese Potbellied pigs
Abstract Three cases of abdominal fat necrosis in Vietnamese Potbellied pigs are described in this report. Two pigs were presented for nonspecific clinical signs of varying durations, including lethargy and hyporexia, and one pig was presented for euthanasia due to severe, progressive lameness in which abdominal fat necrosis was found incidentally.

These findings indicate that symbiotic fungal partnerships and silicon provision may benefit plants but could weaken anti‐herbivore defences when combined. Revealing the complex interactions among diverse fungal symbionts and showcasing their effects on different anti‐herbivore defences (chemical and physical) and herbivore performance for the first ...

Phytoremediation with Endophytes in Heavy Metal Contaminated Soils
Phytoremediation is based on the natural ability of plants to remove chemicals from water, soil and air and is much more economical to implement than conventional decontamination technologies.

Plant and Endophyte Effect on Fiber, N, and P Concentrations in Tall Fescue
Tall fescue (Lolium arundinaceum) infected with an endophyte (Neotyphodium spp.) generally has agronomic advantages over endophyte-free tall fescue. The objective of this study was to determine if endophyte presence (E+) or absence (E−) in three tall ...
