Selection for behavior and hemopoiesis in American mink (Neovison vison)
Journal of Veterinary Behavior, 2017Abstract It has been known that selective breeding of animals for behavior associated with domestication changes a variety of physiological traits including response to stress and hypothalamo–pituitary–adrenocortical system activity. The aim of our research was to find association between behavioral type and differential leukocyte counts as an ...

Parasitology Research, 2018
A survey was conducted on 30 Danish mink farms from April to October 2016 to determine the prevalence and species of Eimeria in Danish farmed mink. In total, 2.6% of mink faecal samples (108/4140) were positive for Eimeria vison-like oocysts by microscopy, with 24.8% (78/315) of mink being positive at least once during the study period.

Evaluation of reproductive safety of β-sitosterol on the American mink (Neovison vison)
Chemosphere, 2008beta-Sitosterol is a weakly estrogenic phytosterol used extensively in functional foods to lower elevated serum cholesterol concentrations due to its inhibitory action on intestinal cholesterol absorption. It caused previously decreased sex steroid concentrations in fish and lowered sperm counts in rats.

Characterization of a Tigger1 element from the genome of the American mink (Neovison vison)
Gene, 2012Tigger elements belong to the Tc1/Mariner family of DNA transposons which is remarkably widespread in nature with homologs present in organisms as diverse as fungi, plants and animals. In this report, we present the nucleotide sequence of a defragmented Tigger1 element from the genome of the American mink.

The complete mitochondrial genome sequence of Neovison vison (Carnivora: Mustelidae)
Mitochondrial DNA Part A, 2014The phylogenetic and taxonomic position of the American mink Neovison vison have long been unclear. In this paper, the complete mitogenome of N. vison was sequenced and characterized. The total length was 16,594 bp and typically consists of 37 genes, including 13 protein-coding genes, 2 rRNAs, 22 tRNA, a large control region (CR) and a light-strand ...

In vivo fractionation of mercury isotopes in tissues of a mammalian carnivore (Neovison vison)
Science of The Total Environment, 2018The use of isotope ratios to trace Hg contamination sources in environmental compartments is now generally accepted. However, for biota and especially for mammals, it is still unknown if and/or how Hg isotopes fractionate in vivo and which tissue is most representative of the source(s) of contamination. We measured fractionation of Hg in mink (Neovison

Genetic variability of American mink Neovison vison in Lithuania
2014The genetic diversity of American mink Neovison vison (Schreber, 1777) was studied in order to understand the processes of invasion and the possible influence of multiple introductions on American mink populations in Lithuania. The diversity of 6 microsatellite loci, according to several authors [1, 2, 3, 4], was examined to estimate the genetic ...
