The drivers of benthic macroinvertebrates communities along a subtropical river system: Sediments chemistry or water quality?

open access: yesEcohydrology, Volume 17, Issue 5, July 2024.
Abstract Impacts of metal pollution, either on water or in sediments within aquatic systems have been a serious challenge globally. Little is known about the ecological impacts of metal pollution on benthic macroinvertebrates species in sub–tropical river systems.

Comparative vulnerability of Indosylvirana temporalis and Clinotarsus curtipes (Anura: Ranidae) tadpoles to water scorpions: importance of refugia and swimming speed in predator avoidance

open access: yesPhyllomedusa: Journal of Herpetology, 2021
The comparative vulnerability of two co-existing tadpole species (Indosylvirana temporalis and Clinotarsus curtipes) to their common predator, water scorpions (Laccotrephes sp.; Hemiptera: Nepidae), and the importance of refugia in predator avoidance ...

Notes on Critical Character States in Telmatotrephes (Heteroptera: Nepidae)

open access: yesThe Florida Entomologist, 1989
In his 1972 revision of Telmatotrephes Stal, Lansbury discussed four character states he considered important in understanding the systematic position of the genus in the family. We examine the distribution of those characters across the Nepidae and find two of Lansbury's conclusions to be invalid.

Stream Quality and Benthic Macroinvertebrate Diversity in the Badeye Area, Logone Occidental Province, Southwestern Chad

open access: yesInternational Journal of Ecology, Volume 2024, Issue 1, 2024.
The aim of this study of benthic macroinvertebrates in the southwestern canton of Badeye in Chad was to analyze the community structure in relation to the physicochemical quality of water in the Man baptem tributary. A total of 4,012 benthic macroinvertebrates were identified and counted in 38 families.

Predatory influence of dragonfly larvae and water scorpions on eggs and tadpoles of Indosylvirana temporalis (Anura: Ranidae)

open access: yesPhyllomedusa: Journal of Herpetology, 2022
We assessed in the laboratory the vulnerability of Bronzed frog (Indosylvirana temporalis) eggs and tadpoles to two potential sit-and-wait insect predators, larvae of a dragonfly (Pantala flavescens; Odonata: Libellulidae) and adult water scorpions ...
