Effect of Median Nerve Mobilization and Median Nerve Self-Mobilization on Median Motor Nerve Conduction Velocity

open access: yes, 2012
[Purpose] This study examined the difference in nerve conduction velocity (NCV) between two groups: in one group, a physical therapist performed median nerve mobilization (MNM) for the subjects of one group, and in the other group, the subjects received ...

Clinical and neurophysiological correlation in axonal and demyelinating polyneuropathy

open access: yesBulletin of the National Research Centre, 2020
Background The neurophysiological examination provides valuable pathophysiological information for the diagnosis, prognosis, and therapy of patients with polyneuropathy (Fuglsang- Fredriksen A., Pugdahl K. Clin Neurophysilogy 122:440–455, 2011).

The impact of frailty syndrome on skeletal muscle histology: preventive effects of exercise

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Frailty syndrome exacerbates skeletal muscle degeneration via increased ECM deposition and myofiber loss. This study, using a murine model, demonstrates that endurance exercise attenuates these histopathological alterations, preserving muscle integrity. Findings support exercise as a viable strategy to counteract frailty‐induced musculoskeletal decline

Correlation of the Lower Limb Nerve Conduction Velocity with Height and Leg Length

open access: yesKorean Journal of Clinical Laboratory Science
Nerve conduction study (NCS) is an essential test for the diagnosis and follow-up of peripheral neuropathy. NCS can objectively quantify peripheral nerve function. NCS is affected by physiological factors such as height, age, body mass index, etc. Hence,

Influence of Dystrophin Isoform Deficiency on Motor Development in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective In Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), lack of the shorter dystrophin isoforms Dp140 and Dp71 is associated with increased central nervous system (CNS) involvement. We aimed to investigate how CNS involvement affects motor development in young DMD boys.

MOTOR NERVE CONDUCTION VELOCITY DURING DIPHENYLHYDANTOIN INTOXICATION

open access: yesActa Neurologica Scandinavica, 1971
Twenty‐four patients with serum diphenylhydantoin (DPH) levels above 20 mg per 1 underwent an examination of the motor conduction velocity (mev) in the right deep peroneal nerve.

Performance of Composite Endpoints Defining Progression Independent of Relapse Activity in Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective The characteristics and utility of composite progression independent of relapse activity (cPIRA; worsening on the Expanded Disability Status Scale [EDSS], or 9‐Hole Peg Test, or Timed 25‐Foot Walk Test) were evaluated as an endpoint in relapsing multiple sclerosis (RMS) trials using the ENSEMBLE (NCT03085810) and pooled OPERA I/II ...

Digital Activity Markers in Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate the utility of smartwatch and smartphone‐based activity metrics for assessing disease severity and quality of life in patients with chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP). Methods In the electronic monitoring of disease activity in patients with CIDP (EMDA‐CIDP) trial, we performed a prospective ...

Using a Supramolecular Approach to Engineer Modular Hydrogel Platforms for Culturing Protoplasts – from General Tissue Engineering to Cellular Agriculture

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
Using supramolecular monomers, various hydrogel culture systems were formulated to culture protoplasts; including 2D, 2.5D, and 3D hydrogels. Depending on the culture platform, bioactive functionalization led to protoplast enlargement (2D and 2.5D) or plasmolysis (3D). This work shows the potential to modularly engineer synthetic platforms for cellular
