Nerve fibers in ovarian endometriomas

Fertility and Sterility, 2010
Ovarian endometriomas (n = 29) were innervated by mainly sympathetic and sensory fibers. These fibers may be involved in the generation of pain symptoms.

Opaque Nerve Fibers

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1923
The report of this case is interesting because accompanied by a color sketch showing the appearance of the fundus, and chart showing the limitation of the visual field.

Nerve Fibers in Osteoid Osteoma

The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery, 1970
Osteoid osteomas stained with the Bielschowsky axon stain, demonstrated nerve fibers within the matrix of the nidus in sixteen of eighteen lesions studied. These fibers were associated with blood vessels and were found in greatest abundance adjacent to arterioles. Routine hematoxylin and eosin stains failed to reveal these fibers.

Myelinated Nerve Fibers

1993
Myelination proceeds in an orderly fashion. The last elements to receive a myelin sheath are the chiasm and optic nerve. Myelinated nerve fibers in the retina most often occur in men and are seen in 0.3–1.0% of individuals. The eyes are otherwise normal.

Aberrant Intramedullary Peripheral Nerve Fibers

Archives of Neurology, 1968
OCCURRENCE of bundles of perivascular nerve fibers within the spinal cord has long been known and the resemblance of the tinctorial characteristics of the associated myelin sheaths to myelin of peripheral nerves has received comment. 1-3 In cases of myelopathy of diverse causes, intramedullary nerve fibers may proliferate to form localized traumatic ...

Osmotic relations of nerve fiber

The Journal of Membrane Biology, 1977
The volumetric elastic modulus of the sheath and the osmotic swelling pressure of the axoplasmic polymer network of the giant axon of Loligo vulgaris were measured. Evidence was obtained that (1) the elastic modulus of the sheath, (2) the swelling pressure of axoplasm, and (3) the effective osmotic pressure difference due to mobile solutes determine ...

EFFERENT NERVE FIBERS OF COCHLEA

Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1954
ALTHOUGH the sensory terminations of the cochlear nerve have been well known since the outstanding research of Retzius, Ramon y Cajal, and, more recently, Lorente de No, other systems of fibers in the auditory apparatus are far from being perfectly understood.

Feedback controlled nerve fiber impalement

Electroencephalography and Clinical Neurophysiology, 1981
A device has been described for the automatic impalement of nerve fibers. Although developed specifically for that task, the technique can be applied for intracellular recording from other cells or processes. The basis of the techniques is to use the cell membrane potential to stop the advance of a fast moving microelectrode.

Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer Measured by Heidelberg Retina Tomograph and Nerve Fiber Analyzer

European Journal of Ophthalmology, 2005
Purpose To compare retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness measured by Heidelberg retina tomograph (HRT) and nerve fiber analyzer (GDx). Methods Twenty eyes of 20 consecutive healthy subjects were recruited for this study. Each subject had a normal visual field and a normal optic nerve head, which was assessed by slit-lamp biomicroscopy using a 90 ...

Beading of myelinated nerve fibers

Experimental Neurology, 1965
Abstract The phenomena of beading upon stretching was studied in nerve fibers of freeze-substituted nerves. Beading appears rapidly along the length of the mammalian nerve. Nerve fibers of frogs kept at low temperatures have a crenated shape in cross section and show wrinkling in longitudinal section, but no beading is produced upon stretching them ...
