The terminal of the sympathetic nerve fibers in the facial nerve
Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 2004The terminal of the sympathetic nerve fibers of the rat facial nerve in the temporal bone region was investigated. We used tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) and the synaptophysin antibody as markers of the sympathetic nerve fiber and the membrane of the synaptic vesicle, respectively.

Nerve fiber analysis on the morphology of the lingual nerve
Anatomical Science International, 2014The route of fine fascicles of nerve fibers in the lingual nerve was clarified. Contemporary anatomy textbooks describe the lingual nerve as supplying sensory innervation to the mucous membrane of the presulcal part of the tongue, the floor and side wall of the mouth, and the mandibular gums.

Afferent nerve fibers and acupuncture
Autonomic Neuroscience, 2010Acupuncture has been used for analgesia, for treating visceral function disorders and for improving motor functions. It is well established that stimulation of the skin and muscles, either electrically or with noxious or non-noxious stimuli, induces a variety of somato-motor and autonomic responses.

Abstract The nerve fiber is simply a continuation of the neuron’s axon or functional process. Thus, it is not a distinct component of nervous tissue, and would have been considered along with the neuron if a separate description were not justified by special features displayed on the way to its terminal arborizations.

Motor fibers in the sural nerve
Acta Neuropathologica, 1986In an ischemia-induced model of an acute motor neuron disorder, there is anterior horn cell damage with Wallerian degeneration in ventral roots; dorsal root ganglia and dorsal roots are unaffected. In a mixed nerve there is axonal degeneration reflecting loss of motor fibers. The sural nerve is normal showing that it does not contain motor fibers. This

Myelinated Retinal Nerve Fibers
American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1981In a series of 3,968 consecutive autopsies, myelinated nerve fibers of the retina were presented in 39 (0.98%) cases and bilateral in three (7.7%) affected cases; thus, 42 (0.54%) of the 7,936 eyes examined were affected. Myelinated nerve fiber lesions appeared as white or gray-white striated patches corresponding in shape to the distribution of ...

Nerve fibers in ovarian endometriomas
Fertility and Sterility, 2010Ovarian endometriomas (n = 29) were innervated by mainly sympathetic and sensory fibers. These fibers may be involved in the generation of pain symptoms.

Localization of calcium in nerve fibers
Journal of Neurobiology, 1984AbstractUsing the desheathed nerve preparation, a pyroantimonate precipitation method was used to examine the distribution of electron‐dense particles seen in various organelles of the nerve fibers following exposure of nerve to various levels of Ca2+ in vitro.

Nerve Fibers in Osteoid Osteoma
The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery, 1970Osteoid osteomas stained with the Bielschowsky axon stain, demonstrated nerve fibers within the matrix of the nidus in sixteen of eighteen lesions studied. These fibers were associated with blood vessels and were found in greatest abundance adjacent to arterioles. Routine hematoxylin and eosin stains failed to reveal these fibers.

Osmotic relations of nerve fiber
The Journal of Membrane Biology, 1977The volumetric elastic modulus of the sheath and the osmotic swelling pressure of the axoplasmic polymer network of the giant axon of Loligo vulgaris were measured. Evidence was obtained that (1) the elastic modulus of the sheath, (2) the swelling pressure of axoplasm, and (3) the effective osmotic pressure difference due to mobile solutes determine ...
