Nested Arrays: A Novel Approach to Array Processing With Enhanced Degrees of Freedom [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2010
A new array geometry, which is capable of significantly increasing the degrees of freedom of linear arrays, is proposed. This structure is obtained by systematically nesting two or more uniform linear arrays and can provide O(N2) degrees of freedom using only N physical sensors when the second-order statistics of the received data is used.

Super nested arrays: Sparse arrays with less mutual coupling than nested arrays [PDF]

open access: yes2016 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2016
In array processing, mutual coupling between sensors has an adverse effect on the estimation of parameters (e.g., DOA). Sparse arrays, such as nested arrays, coprime arrays, and minimum redundancy arrays (MRAs), have reduced mutual coupling compared to uniform linear arrays (ULAs).

Symmetric thinned coprime array with reduced mutual coupling for mixed near‐field and far‐field sources localization

open access: yesIET Radar, Sonar & Navigation, 2022
As we all know, the non‐uniform array is widely used in the mixed near‐field (NF) and far‐field sources localization. The nested array contains a uniform linear array, it is easy to be affected by mutual coupling, so we propose a symmetric thinned ...

DOA Estimation of an Enhanced Generalized Nested Array with Increased Degrees of Freedom and Reduced Mutual Coupling

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2021
Aiming at low degrees of freedom (DOF) and high mutual coupling (MC) of the existing sparse arrays, an enhanced generalized nested array (EGNA) is proposed in this paper.

A New Sparse Linear Array With Three-Level Nested Structure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Mutual coupling, which is caused by a tight intersensor spacing in uniform linear arrays (ULAs), will, to a certain extent, affect the estimation result for source localisation. To address the problem, sparse arrays such as coprime array and nested array
