Improved array weighting for short nested arrays
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2019Often linear acoustic arrays are comprised of shorter nested subcomponent arrays cut for higher frequencies. This reduces costs and complexity by trading-off performance, specifically in resolution, SNR, and grating lobes. Typically each sub-aperture is processed individually, and the results incoherently combined over a frequency bandwidth of interest.

Calibrating Nested Sensor Arrays With Model Errors
IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 2014We consider the problem of direction of arrival (DOA) estimation based on a nonuniform linear nested array, which is known to provide $O(N^2)$ degrees of freedom (DOFs) using only $N$ sensors. Both subspace-based and sparsity-based algorithms require certain modeling assumptions, e.g., exactly known array geometry, including sensor gain and ...

ACM SIGAPL APL Quote Quad, 1992
Following the new direction taken by the ISO Standards Committee meeting in Palo Alto, during August, 1991, an extended APL standard is considered using a nested array basis with particular features from IBM's APL2 program product. APL2 develops from ISO APL with the relaxation of two early scalar constraints.

A Novel Nested Array for Real-Valued Sources Exploiting Array Motion
IEEE Signal Processing Letters, 2021In this letter, a novel nested array is proposed which not only increases the degrees of freedom (DOF) but also reduces the mutual coupling that occurs in the general nested array structure by moving the original array only half wavelength. Here we deal with real-valued sources like AM or BPSK whereby we can explore the property of the sum coarray ...

Bounds for asymmetric nested orthogonal arrays
Discrete MathematicsThe paper explores nested orthogonal arrays (NOAs), which are widely used in statistical experiments and fractional factorial designs when different factors require different numbers of levels. It addresses the core problem of determining minimal sizes (i.e., the smallest possible number of runs) for constructing such NOAs, under asymmetry constraints (

DOA estimation in conformal arrays based on the nested array principles
Digital Signal Processing, 2016The nested array structure has attracted great attention recently due to its ability in reducing the number of sensors in an array and at the same time preserving the array performance. While a uniform linear array (ULA) can detect at most N - 1 sources with N sensors, a nested array can provide O ( N 2 ) degrees of freedom with the same number of ...

Stability of compression of the inner array plasma in nested arrays
Plasma Physics Reports, 2017The implosion of nested fiber/wire arrays was studied experimentally at the Angara-5-1 facility. The outer array consisted of kapron fibers, while the inner array was made of tungsten wires. The experiments were carried out at a discharge current of 3 MA.

Nested arrays as an extension for APL
Proceedings of the international conference on APL: part 1 - APL '79, 1979This workshop will be held to inform interested members of the APL community about current research on adding nested arrays to APL. The Chairman will present a brief summary of current research in the area, indicating the issues that are yet unresolved, and presenting a set of criteria for deciding them.

Optimization of the inner array in a nested array Z-pinch
IEEE Conference Record - Abstracts. 1999 IEEE International Conference on Plasma Science. 26th IEEE International Conference (Cat. No.99CH36297), 1999Summary form only given. Nested wire arrays have been used to improve pinch quality and X-ray power. Numerical simulations suggest that the inner array acts to reduce the growth of the MHD Rayleigh-Taylor (RT) instability present in the outer array prior to impact.

Systolic array implementation of nested loop programs
[1990] Proceedings of the International Conference on Application Specific Array Processors, 2002The authors consider a formal and systematic method to convert a class of nested loop programs to single assignment codes and, when possible, to regular algorithms (RAs) for systolic array implementation. The authors concentrate on the analysis of certain imperative nested loop programs in view of the ultimate objective, which is the (semi)-automatic ...
