Hybrid Continuum Robot Designs and Architectures for Healthcare Applications
Hybrid continuum robots represent an emerging class of flexible manipulators that blend materials, structures, and actuation concepts from the established fields of soft and continuum robotics. This review introduces an accessible framework to distinguish key hybridization approaches, surveys current designs aimed at complex clinical applications, and ...

Efficient and Robust Standing Postures of Quadruped Robots
A calibrated static framework estimates load, optimizes torques, and adapts posture so quadruped robots stand efficiently and robustly under external payloads, achieving up to 50% lower torque demand. Inspired by the natural posture adjustments of animals under external loading, this article presents an optimization‐based framework for minimizing joint

Small Area Estimation under Poisson–Dirichlet Process Mixture Models
In this paper, we propose an improved Nested Error Regression model in which the random effects for each area are given a prior distribution using the Poisson–Dirichlet Process. Based on this model, we mainly investigate the construction of the parameter

Methods of testing and diagnosing model error : dual and single route cascaded models of reading aloud [PDF]
Models of visual word recognition have been assessed by both factorial and regression approaches. Factorial approaches tend to provide a relatively weak test of models, and regression approaches give little indication of the sources of models ...

Bioinspired Soft‐Skeleton Robotics With Cooperative Shape Transformation and Stiffness Adaptation
A bioinspired soft‐skeleton robot that integrates variable‐stiffness chain skeletons into a soft textile skin is developed. The chain skeletons are highly flexible initially but can stiffen upon pneumatic actuation, enabling large deformation and enhanced load‐bearing capacity.

Prediction of body fat percentage using a new hybrid intelligent feature selection: ANN-KGA & ANN-IKGA [PDF]
Before initiating obesity treatment, it is essential to determine body fat percentage (BFP), a measure that cannot be assessed through conventional weighing alone.

Comparing Tests of Autoregressive Versus Moving Average Errors in Regression Models Using Bahadur's Asymptotic Relative Efficiency, [PDF]
The purpose of this paper is to use Bahadur's asymptotic relative efficiency measure to compare the performance of various tests of autoregressive (AR) versus moving average (MA) error processes in regression models.

Consensus Formation and Change are Enhanced by Neutrality
Neutral agents are shown to enhance both the formation and overturning of consensus in collective decision‐making. A general mathematical model and experiments with locusts and humans reveal that neutrality enables robust consensus via simple interactions and accelerates consensus change by reducing effective population size.

UNCERTAINTY UNDER A MULTIVARIATE NESTED-ERROR REGRESSION MODEL WITH LOGARITHMIC TRANSFORMATION [PDF]
Assuming a multivariate linear regression model with one random factor, we consider the parameters defined as exponentials of mixed effects, i.e., linear combinations of fixed and random effects.
