A critical analysis of the net metering practice in cyprus

2016 IEEE International Energy Conference (ENERGYCON), 2016
The promotion of rooftop photovoltaic systems in Cyprus was reinforced in 2013 through the adoption of a net metering scheme for domestic customers. Net metering is an energy policy that most commonly works through retail tariffs, thus allowing retail customers to offset their electricity bills with energy produced by their privately-owned generating ...

Development of a smart controller for hybrid net metering

TENCON 2017 - 2017 IEEE Region 10 Conference, 2017
This study implemented a hybrid net metering technology that will help limit the power consumed from the grid and maximize the usage of renewable energy, i.e., solar energy. The main objective of the study is to design a prototype on a small scale basis that controls and monitors the usage of power consumed by the load using a hybrid system.

Net metering benefits for residential buildings: A case study in Italy

2015 IEEE 15th International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering (EEEIC), 2015
Contrary to expectations, the development of smart (mini) grids is slow. Due to drastic improvements in innovative technologies, the reasons are not strictly technical but the problem mainly lies in regulatory barriers. The current business models are centric to utilities rather than customers.

Impact assessment of net metering on smart home cyberattack detection

Proceedings of the 52nd Annual Design Automation Conference, 2015
Despite the increasing popularity of the smart home concept, such a technology is vulnerable to various security threats such as pricing cyberattacks. There are some technical advances in developing detection and defense frameworks against those pricing cyberattacks. However, none of them considers the impact of net metering, which allows the customers

The impact of net metering on the residential rooftop PV market

Conference Record of the Twenty-Eighth IEEE Photovoltaic Specialists Conference - 2000 (Cat. No.00CH37036), 2002
Federal net metering legislation could have an enormous impact on the demand for rooftop mounted photovoltaic (PV) module systems. We estimate the potential demand for such systems as well as the willingness of the homeowner to pay for such a system. We estimate costs for producing, installing, and maintaining such systems.
