Abstract Previously it has been established that when mean relative growth rate (RGR) is estimated from growth data by the classical method of growth analysis, the computed variance of RGR is probably greater than it should be. By similar procedures, it is now demonstrated that the same is true of unit leaf rate (ULR).

Effects of shading and time of year on net assimilation rates of young glasshouse tomato plants
Annals of Applied Biology, 1967SUMMARYMinimum and maximum net assimilation rates were determined from calculated curves of closest fit to data for 2 years. The minimum (14 g./m.2/week) occurred in mid‐December, immediately before the shortest day, and the maximum (78 g./m.2/week) between 27 June and 8 July, just after the longest day.

Changes in Net Assimilation Rate and Leaf-area Ratio with Time in Dactyl is glomerata L.
Annals of Botany, 1971Two natural populations of Dactylis glomerata, one from Norway and the other from Portugal, were grown at four temperatures in a 16-h photoperiod. Seedlings were harvested at six equal intervals of 7 days at 5 and 10 °C, and 3-5 days at 20 and 30 °C.
