Cooperative communication with network coding
2012 IEEE 16th International Symposium on Consumer Electronics, 2012In cooperative communication system, mobile users are constantly transmitting and relaying data. On the other hand, network coding has been widely investigated in communication system. In this paper, we aim to combine network coding with the conventional cooperative communication system, however, we face certain problems.

Strategies and Tradeoffs for Coded Cooperation in Wireless Networks
2007 5th International Symposium on Modeling and Optimization in Mobile, Ad Hoc and Wireless Networks and Workshops, 2007In a wireless network, fading significantly affects the performance, and diversity techniques are used to overcome this issue. Cooperation among nodes provides spatial diversity by means of packet relaying. In coded cooperation, diversity is further enhanced since cooperating nodes transmit different parts of a coded packet on different channels.

Cooperative coding on orthogonal information networks
2009The focus of this thesis is on communication over cooperative information networks. In the first half of the thesis, we consider lossy source coding problems where a relay assists in the communication of a source stream between two terminals. The following two configurations are studied – (1) The Slepian-Wolf problem setup when the two encoding ...

Cooperative space-time coding for wireless networks
Proceedings 2003 IEEE Information Theory Workshop (Cat. No.03EX674), 2004We consider a cooperative system in which the partnering mobiles are equipped with multiple antennas. We present space-time codes that have the capability of providing full cooperation diversity, while achieving maximum possible diversity and best performance in the inter-user channel.

Incremental Network Coding in Cooperative Transmission Wireless Networks
2008 IEEE 68th Vehicular Technology Conference, 2008For block-fading Rayleigh channels, this work considers a network coding approach to cooperative transmission. The network under consideration consists of two sources, S and P, that transmit to a common destination, D. Using half-duplex channels, S and P transmit their packets to D; they also overhear each other's transmission.

On the Performance Analysis of Network-Coded Cooperation in Wireless Networks
IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2008In this letter, a network-coded cooperation scheme with dynamic coding mechanism (DC-NCC) is proposed. In DC-NCC, the relay dynamically adapts forming the network-coded data based on the observed instantaneous source-to-relay channel quality, and then forwards the network-coded data towards corresponding destinations. Under the assumption (denoted as A)

Cooperative Network Coding for Wireless Ad-Hoc Networks
IEEE GLOBECOM 2007-2007 IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference, 2007In wireless ad-hoc networks, a major challenge is how to provide robust and efficient communication. To achieve this goal, cooperative communication and network coding have been proven to be effective. In the literature, most existing studies focus on the performance of the two schemes separately.

Cooperative relaying in Wi-Fi networks with network coding
IEEE Wireless Communications, 2012Recently, network coding has emerged as a new cooperative technique for improving network throughputs over traditional routing techniques. Network coding allows intermediate nodes to combine packets using an algebraic function before forwarding. Selfless cooperation by the intermediate nodes is thus implicitly assumed in the network employing network ...

On the potential of network coding for cooperative awareness in vehicular networks
2015 IEEE 2nd World Forum on Internet of Things (WF-IoT), 2015Vehicular active safety applications require the continuous exchange of positioning and basic status information between neighboring vehicles. This exchange is based on the periodic transmission/reception of 1-hop broadcast messages on the control channel.

On Network Codes for Multiuser Cooperative Communication in a Line Network
2013 IEEE 77th Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC Spring), 2013In this paper, the use of network coding is exploited to improve the cooperative diversity order of multi-source multi-hop networks with line topology. We elaborate on a previous system model by allowing user nodes to be arbitrarily located along the line network, to have the ability to perform network decoding, and to be able to listen to upstream ...
