Strategies and Tradeoffs for Coded Cooperation in Wireless Networks

open access: yes2007 5th International Symposium on Modeling and Optimization in Mobile, Ad Hoc and Wireless Networks and Workshops, 2007
In a wireless network, fading significantly affects the performance, and diversity techniques are used to overcome this issue. Cooperation among nodes provides spatial diversity by means of packet relaying. In coded cooperation, diversity is further enhanced since cooperating nodes transmit different parts of a coded packet on different channels.

A Novel Network-Coding-Based Coded Cooperation Scheme

2009 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference, 2009
Coded Cooperation (CC) is a promising user co-operation scheme. In this paper, we propose a novel networ-kcoding-based coded cooperation scheme. When a user decodes its partner's information correctly in the first frame, it transmits the combination of the partner's parity bits and its own parity bits through network coding in the second frame. This is

Enhanced Adaptive Network Coded Cooperation for Wireless Networks

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2018
Adaptive network coded cooperation (ANCC) provides a general coded cooperation framework to map the communication connections of a wireless network into the coding constraint. However, random selection policy is assumed at each node to select its retrieval subset, which cannot avoid illness in code graph at the sink.

On the Performance Analysis of Network-Coded Cooperation in Wireless Networks

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2008
In this letter, a network-coded cooperation scheme with dynamic coding mechanism (DC-NCC) is proposed. In DC-NCC, the relay dynamically adapts forming the network-coded data based on the observed instantaneous source-to-relay channel quality, and then forwards the network-coded data towards corresponding destinations. Under the assumption (denoted as A)

On the Performance Analysis of Network-Coded Cooperation in Wireless Networks

open access: yesIEEE INFOCOM 2007 - 26th IEEE International Conference on Computer Communications, 2007
Cooperative communication is a powerful technology combating fading in wireless medium. In contrast to conventional cooperation (CC) which allows the relay to simply process and forward what it has heard, network-coded cooperation (NCC) endows network coding capability with the relay, i.e., allows the relay to first encode the data it has received from

Cooperative coding for wireless networks

4th International Workshop on Mobile and Wireless Communications Network, 2003
User-cooperation represents an effective way of introducing diversity in wireless networks. Spatial diversity gains are obtained through the cooperation of mobile users and the use of the partner's antenna. In this paper, we design channel codes that are capable of achieving the full diversity provided by user-cooperation, with the constraint that they

Network coding in cooperative relay networks

2008 IEEE 19th International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications, 2008
Network coding is seen as a promising technique to improve network throughput. In this paper, network coding in cooperative relay networks and user cooperative networks is investigated and an optimized power allocation scheme is provided. By comparing with traditional relay forwarding in a simple two-user scenario, network coding shows a better system ...

On the Overhead of Telescopic Codes in Network Coded Cooperation

2015 IEEE 82nd Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC2015-Fall), 2015
Although Random Linear Network Coding (RLNC) has been shown to reduce the number of transmissions for multi-cast scenarios, there is an inherent signaling overhead to achieve this benefit. Employing a large field result in less transmissions but at the cost of a large coding vector of coefficients.

Network-Coded Cooperative Systems in Cognitive Radio Networks

IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2022
We study the performance of a network-coded cooperative (NCC) system in an underlay cognitive radio network (CRN). The primary network (PN) consists of a single transmitter-receiver pair, and the secondary network (SN) is an NCC system with $N$ users, $M$ relays, and a single destination.

Network coded noncoherent cooperative communications

2014 22nd Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference (SIU), 2014
In recent years, network coding has received significant attention as an innovative approach that improves the spectral efficiency of wireless communication systems. The Multiple Access Relay Channel (MARC) where multiple users communicate with a common destination via a relay, is one of the important network coding applications in wireless cooperative
