We consider communication over a noisy network under randomized linear network coding. Possible error mechanism include node- or link- failures, Byzantine behavior of nodes, or an over-estimate of the network min-cut. Building on the work of Koetter and Kschischang, we introduce a probabilistic model for errors.

Special issue on network coding
Future networks are expected to depart from traditional routing schemes in order to embrace network coding (NC)-based schemes. These have created a lot of interest both in academia and industry in recent years.

Coding-Aware Opportunistic Routing for Sparse Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks
In underwater wireless sensor networks (UWSNs), the sensor nodes are sparsely deployed over a large sea area due to their high design cost and high manufacturing cost. Opportunistic routing protocols are a promising forwarding technique for various UWSNs.

On distributed scheduling in wireless networks exploiting broadcast and network coding [PDF]
In this paper, we consider cross-layer optimization in wireless networks with wireless broadcast advantage, focusing on the problem of distributed scheduling of broadcast links. The wireless broadcast advantage is most useful in multicast scenarios.

Traffic Shaped Network Coding Aware Routing for Wireless Sensor Networks
Energy efficiency is a critical problem for wireless sensor networks. In past decades, network coding has been proved as a promising technology to reduce the number of transmissions, save energy, and improve network throughput, especially suitable for ...

Hybrid noncoherent network coding [PDF]
We describe a novel extension of subspace codes for noncoherent networks, suitable for use when the network is viewed as a communication system that introduces both dimension and symbol errors. We show that when symbol erasures occur in a significantly large number of different basis vectors transmitted through the network and when the min-cut of the ...

An intracellular transporter mitigates the CO2‐induced decline in iron content in Arabidopsis shoots
This study identifies a gene encoding a transmembrane protein, MIC, which contributes to the reduction of shoot Fe content observed in plants under elevated CO2. MIC is a putative Fe transporter localized to the Golgi and endosomal compartments. Its post‐translational regulation in roots may represent a potential target for improving plant nutrition ...
