Interplay between circadian and other transcription factors—Implications for cycling transcriptome reprogramming

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This perspective highlights emerging insights into how the circadian transcription factor CLOCK:BMAL1 regulates chromatin architecture, cooperates with other transcription factors, and coordinates enhancer dynamics. We propose an updated framework for how circadian transcription factors operate within dynamic and multifactorial chromatin landscapes ...

Wireless Broadcast with Network Coding in Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks: DRAGONCAST [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Network coding is a recently proposed method for transmitting data, which has been shown to have potential to improve wireless network performance. We study network coding for one specific case of multicast, broadcasting, from one source to all nodes of ...

An Efficient Network Coding based Retransmission Algorithm for Wireless Multicasts

open access: yes, 2010
Retransmission based on packet acknowledgement (ACK/NAK) is a fundamental error control technique employed in IEEE 802.11-2007 unicast network. However the 802.11-2007 standard falls short of proposing a reliable MAC-level recovery protocol for multicast

Network Coding for Speedup in Switches [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We present a graph theoretic upper bound on speedup needed to achieve 100% throughput in a multicast switch using network coding. By bounding speedup, we show the equivalence between network coding and speedup in multicast switches - i.e. network coding,

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

An Equivalence Between Secure Network and Index Coding

open access: yes, 2016
We extend the equivalence between network coding and index coding by Effros, El Rouayheb, and Langberg to the secure communication setting in the presence of an eavesdropper.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Lightweight Security for Network Coding

open access: yes, 2008
Under the emerging network coding paradigm, intermediate nodes in the network are allowed not only to store and forward packets but also to process and mix different data flows.
