Packet Flow on Telecommunication Networks
SIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis, 2006The aim of this paper is to introduce a macroscopic fluid dynamic model dealing with the flow of information on a telecommunication network encoded in packets. Taking an intermediate time and space scale, we propose a model similar to that introduced recently for car traffic; see [G. M. Coclite, M. Garavello, and B. Piccoli, SIAM J. Math.

ENERGY PACKET NETWORKS WITH MULTIPLE ENERGY PACKET REQUIREMENTS
Probability in the Engineering and Informational Sciences, 2019We analyze Energy Packet Networks (EPNs) in which the service centers consist of multiclass queues and the Data Packets (DPs) initiate the transfer (i.e., the arrival of a DP at the battery triggers the movement) with multiple energy packet requirements. In other words, a class-k DP in cell i is sent successfully to the next cell if there are $c_i^{(k)}

Modeling bufferless packet-switching networks with packet dependencies
Computer Networks, 2009In this paper we present a stochastic network model for packet-switching networks with no buffering capabilities at the nodes. This model can be directly used in the study of all-optical packet-switching (OPS) and optical burst switching (OBS) networks without fiber delay lines (FDLs). Our model provides for the first time a complete description of the

We propose cognitive packet networks (CPN) in which intelligent capabilities for routing and flow control are concentrated in the packets, rather than in the nodes and protocols. Cognitive packets within a CPN route themselves. They are assigned goals before entering the network and pursue these goals adaptively.

Deadlock-Free Packet Switching Networks
SIAM Journal on Computing, 1979Deadlock is one of the most serious system failures that can occur in a computer system or a network. Deadlock states have been observed in existing computer networks emphasizing the need for carefully designed flow control procedures (controllers) to avoid deadlocks.

The trend towards common user packet switched networks has increased the need for the provision of adequate end-to-end security techniques in order to protect the data of individual groups of network users. The techniques which can be employed in order to provide adequate end-to-end security measures are considered in this paper frc,mamilitary ...
