Wild Seasons, Urban Stasis: Anthropogenic Food Subsidies Buffer Seasonal Dietary Shifts for Coyotes (Canis latrans) in a Wildland‐Urban Landscape South of Mexico City

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 6, June 2026.
Coyote populations are expanding into urban areas, and this study examines how their diet adapts along a gradient from conserved to human‐modified habitats. Mammals dominated the diet at both sites, and there was no significant difference in annual dietary diversity between the conserved and modified areas.

Species Distribution Models and Abundance Estimates Enhance Breeding Bird Atlas Data

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 6, June 2026.
Our primary goal was to leverage the large amount of systematic and volunteer‐based data produced by the Minnesota Breeding Bird Atlas to develop species distribution models and population estimates for as many breeding bird species as possible. We utilized three complementary techniques to develop species distribution models and maps for 136 breeding ...

Fuzzy dominance based multi-objective GA-Simplex hybrid algorithms applied to gene network models

open access: yes, 2004
Hybrid algorithms that combine genetic algorithms with the Nelder-Mead simplex algorithm have been effective in solving certain optimization problems. In this article, we apply a similar technique to estimate the parameters of a gene regulatory network ...

'Neural network' algorithm to predict severity in epidermolysis bullosa simplex

open access: yesIndian Journal of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprology, 2005
There are various genotypic variations known for the four phenotypic presentations of epidermolysis bullosa simplex (EBS). A neural network algorithm may be used to find the relationship between the various factors responsible for a particular phenotypic presentation.

Valorizing lemon pomace in bread: Consumer acceptance of fermented and pre‐gelatinized Cardaba banana flour formulations

open access: yesFood Biomacromolecules, Volume 3, Issue 2, Page 378-393, June 2026.
Abstract Whereas gluten‐free bread production often relies on starch‐heavy formulations, this study introduces a novel approach by leveraging the synergistic effects of fermented/pre‐gelatinized Cardaba banana, pigeon pea, and lemon pomace—an underutilized agro‐industrial byproduct.

A Global Health Alert on the Re‐Emergence of Mpox a Viral Zoonotic Illness Its Prevention and Management: A Narrative Review

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Monkeypox virus (MPXV) is gaining attention in the global health community due to its potential for human transmission and similarities to the well‐known smallpox virus. Mpox was first detected in the 1970s and mostly affects Central and West Africa.

Bioanalytical TERS and Advanced Data Processing Methods

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, Volume 57, Issue 6, Page 977-994, June 2026.
Tip‐enhanced Raman spectroscopy delivers label‐free, subnanometer vibrational imaging of biological systems. Recent advances in instrumentation, data analysis, and ambient/liquid operation enable surface‐selective mapping of molecular heterogeneity in proteins, nucleic acids, membranes, and viruses, positioning TERS as a powerful platform for nanoscale

The Double-Pivot Network Simplex Method

open access: yes
The network simplex method, a minimum-cost network flow algorithm, was first created in 1956 by George Dantzig to solve transportation problems. This thesis improves upon Dantzig’s method by pivoting two arcs instead of one at each iteration.

Dynamic computed tomography assessment of patellofemoral and tibiofemoral kinematics before and after total knee arthroplasty: A pilot study

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, Volume 34, Issue 6, Page 2087-2095, June 2026.
Abstract Purpose To develop and evaluate the clinical feasibility of a dynamic computed tomography (CT) protocol for assessing patellofemoral (PF) and tibiofemoral (TF) kinematics before and after total knee arthroplasty (TKA), and to quantify postoperative kinematic changes in a pilot study.
