Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

From energy provision to protein synthesis: Tunnelling nanotubes as mediators of intercellular metabolic cooperation in cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The cytoskeleton‐mediated transport of mitochondria via tunnelling nanotubes restores respiration, increases ATP production, rescues cells from apoptosis, activates the AKT/mTOR signalling pathway, promotes cell migration and invasiveness, contributes to cancer progression and treatment resistance.

Enabling Smart Home with 5G Network Slicing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In addition to mobile phones 5G mobile networks will have to support billion IoT devices and applications. To achieve this objective 5G relies in the network slicing concept which is not yet fully understood.

Deployment Options of 5G Network Slicing for Smart Healthcare [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Network slicing enables the creation of multiple logical independent networks on physical networking infrastructure. Network slice deployment in a Fifth Generation (5G) mobile network can be classified as vertical and horizontal slicing.

Diffusion Spectrum Imaging Maps Early Axonal Loss and a Unique Progressive Signal in Neuronal Intranuclear Inclusion Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To delineate specific in vivo white matter pathology in neuronal intranuclear inclusion disease (NIID) using diffusion spectrum imaging (DSI) and define its clinical relevance. Methods DSI was performed on 42 NIID patients and 38 matched controls.

Value of MRI Outcomes for Preventive and Early‐Stage Trials in Spinocerebellar Ataxias 1 and 3

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To examine the value of MRI outcomes as endpoints for preventive and early‐stage trials of two polyglutamine spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs). Methods A cohort of 100 participants (23 SCA1, 63 SCA3, median Scale for the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) score = 5, 42% preataxic, and 14 gene‐negative controls) was scanned at 3T up ...

Resource Allocation in an Open RAN System Using Network Slicing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
The next radio access network (RAN) generation, open RAN (O-RAN), aims to enable more flexibility and openness, including efficient service slicing, and to lower the operational costs in 5G and beyond wireless networks.

Resource Allocation for Network Slicing in Mobile Networks [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
This paper provides a survey of resource allocation for network slicing. We focus on two classes of existing solutions: ( $i$ ) reservation-based approaches, which allocate resources on a reservation basis, and ( $ii$ ) share-based approaches, which allocate resources based on static overall shares associated to individual slices.

Structure–Function Decoupling of the Sensorimotor and Default Mode Networks in Black Americans With MS

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Multiple sclerosis (MS) exhibits racially disparate rates of disease progression. Black people with MS (B‐PwMS) experience a more severe disease course than non‐Hispanic White people with MS (NHW‐PwMS). Here we investigated structural and functional connectivity as well as structure–function decoupling in the ...
