Traffic Control in Datacenter Networks

2022
150 pages ; The modern digitized world is supported on the backbone of datacenters - Applications ranging from sending emails, shopping online, using social media and playing video games, to name but a few, are all massively dependant on datacenters for storing and processing their data.

Traffic control in ATM networks

Performance Evaluation, 1997
Editor's Note: Zbynek Bazanowski is a doctoral candidate specializing in managing high-speed networks. I met him in St. Petersburg where he gave an excellent talk on managing ATM networks and he has done important work in understanding the dynamic behavior of ATM networks under load.

Traffic controls in ATM networks

Proceedings of ICCS '94, 2002
Real time, cell-level control mechanism is an important component of the overall ATM network control architecture. Close-loop reactive control and open-loop preventive control are the two major classes of cell-level control mechanisms. We study one representative control scheme from each of the two classes.

Chaotic Control of Network Traffic

Chinese Physics Letters, 2009
A method of chaotic control on network traffic is presented. By this method, the chaotic network traffic can be controlled to a pre-assigned equilibrium point according to chaotic prediction and the largest Lyapunov exponent of the traffic on congested link is reduced, thereby the probability of traffic burst and network congestion can be reduced ...

Traffic Signal Control Algorithms of a Traffic Network

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1995
Abstract Traffic signal control algorithms of a traffic network are presented using a hierarchical control concept. The traffic congestion mechanism is described quantitatively based on the traffic volume balance at each signalized intersection. The traffic signal control system of the traffic congestion length is described by a linear time-varying ...

ABR traffic control in satellite ATM networks

Seamless Interconnection for Universal Services. Global Telecommunications Conference. GLOBECOM'99. (Cat. No.99CH37042), 2003
The ABR service relies on feedback from the network, therefore it strongly suffers from the long propagation delays characterizing satellite networks. In fact, it has been shown that the high delay, in combination with the high bandwidth, can deceive ABR sources and make them falsely believe that a break occurred somewhere in the path.

A Neural Network Approach to Freeway Network Traffic Control

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1994
Abstract The paper investigates the application of a feedforward neural network approach to freeway network control via variable direction recommendations at bifurcation locations. A nonlinear control problem is formulated and solved first by use of computationally expensive nonlinear optimization techniques.
