Networked improvement communities
Quality Assurance in Education, 2017Purpose The purpose of this paper is to delineate an approach to quality assurance in education called networked improvement communities (NICs) that focused on integrating the methodologies of improvement science with few of the networks. Quality improvement, the science and practice of continuously improving programs, practices, processes, products ...

Measuring and Improving Communication Robustness of Networks
IEEE Communications Letters, 2019In this letter, we explore the link-adding method to improve communication robustness of networks. Firstly, a robustness measure called communication robustness (CR) is presented, which not only confirms the global effect of the largest connected component on the network communicability, but captures the local communicability of all small connected ...

An Improved Communications Model for Underwater Sensor Networks
IEEE GLOBECOM 2008 - 2008 IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference, 2008Underwater sensor network deployment can be quite difficult and expensive, thus much of the early development is limited to simulation work. There are some underwater physical channel models available in various simulation tools, but they are often overly generalized and rely on assumptions about the ocean as a whole.

Improving Network Throughput with Global Communication Reordering
2018 IEEE International Parallel and Distributed Processing Symposium (IPDPS), 2018We present a methodology to improve network throughput by reordering communication in HPC codes. In contrast to all previous work, our approach does not require any information about network and application communication topology. We implement on-the-fly algorithms that reorder message streams based on statistics inferred during execution.

Networks on Processors Improve On-Chip Communications
Computer, 2009As microprocessors have become more complex, on-chip communications, traditionally handled by buses, have become a performance bottleneck. Chip makers are looking into network-on-chip systems to address this issue.

Availability improvement of ship's optical communication network
2012 14th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON), 2012The paper presents the heuristic approach to availability analysis of optical communication networks connecting ship’s systems. The availabilities of individual components have been calculated, as the basis for the entire system availability evaluation.

Improving the Performance of Collective Communication for the On-Chip Network
2020Efficiently executing the massively parallel applications has become an important goal of developing a modern high-performance multicore computer. In these parallel programs, the collective communication among these cores consume a large portion of inter-core communication.

Enriching networks with edge insertion to improve community detection
Social Network Analysis and Mining, 2021Community detection is a broad area of study in network science, in which its correct detection helps to get information about the groups and the relationships between their nodes. Community detection algorithms use the available snapshot of a network to detect its underlying communities.
