Climate change is contributing to vegetation changes that threaten life support systems. Yet, inherent climatic variability and past and present human actions—such as clearing, burning and grazing regimes—also alter vegetation and complicate understanding of vegetation change. Numerical Simulations of Very Low Velocity Impacts and Ignition of an Explosive Confined by a Thin Case

A low‐speed impact (around one meter per second) of a metallic tip on an explosive confined by a thin plate is simulated. The heat due to friction between the tip and the plate and the one due to the deformation of the plate are not transfered to the ignited zone.

A regional implementation of a mixed finite‐element, semi‐implicit dynamical core

A regional version of a new dynamical core with an iterated semi‐implicit time discretisation and mixed finite‐element spatial discretisation is described. This involves modifying the mixed‐system and Helmholtz‐preconditioner equations to use lateral boundary condition (LBC) data specified by a driving model.
