Paleoenvironmental evolution of the southern Neuquèn basin (Argentina) during the Tithonian-Berriasian (Vaca Muerta and Picún Leufú Formations): a multi-proxy approach

open access: yesBSGF - Earth Sciences Bulletin, 2017
The Tithonian-Berriasian interval in the southern part of the Neuquén Basin is represented by the Vaca Muerta and the Picún Leufú Formations. Facies analysis and correlation of the Vaca Muerta Formation and the lower part of the Picún Leufú Formation in ...

Is it all Phacelia pinnatifida? Molecular delimitations and taxonomic revision of Phacelia sect. Glandulosae in South America based on ddRADseq

open access: yesTAXON, Volume 73, Issue 6, Page 1437-1459, December 2024.
Abstract Phacelia sect. Glandulosae, with ca. 62 taxa, is the most diverse of the 11 sections of the genus Phacelia (Hydrophyllaceae). The family is largely restricted to North and Central America, but the genus Phacelia has an amphitropical distribution with nine species reported from western South America, five of which have been assigned to P. sect.

The Jurassic–Cretaceous Transition in the Slovenian Basin (Alpine Atlantic): Further Evidence for Palaeoenvironmental Record in Pelagic Sediments

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 25, Issue 12, December 2024.
Abstract Over the vast area of present‐day Europe, the Tithonian–Berriasian transition was a time of climate aridization, which was supposedly related to the more general trend of the latest Jurassic–earliest Cretaceous cooling and restrictions in atmospheric circulation.

A HYPOTHETIC SCENARIO FOR THE MIDDLE JURASSIC IN THE SOUTHERN PART OF THE NEUQUÉN BASIN, ARGENTINA

open access: yesPublicación Electrónica de la Asociación Paleontológica Argentina, 2015
A hypothetic scenario for the Middle Jurassic in the southern part of the Neuquén Basin, is proposed on the basis of sedimentary facies and palynological data obtained from the study of eight stratigraphic sections.

Hierarchy of bounding surfaces in aeolian sandstones of the Jurassic Tordillo Formation (Neuquén Basin, Argentina)

open access: yesGeologica Acta, 2005
The Tordillo Formation is a continental clastic unit deposited in the Neuquén Basin during the Late Jurassic. This paper discusses the stratigraphy of the succession outcropping at the Quebrada del Sapo, with emphasis on the origin, dimensions and ...

Deltas: New paradigms

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, Volume 10, Issue 5, Page 600-636, November 2024.
This paper discusses some new paradigms concerning the origin and significance of deltas and their deposits. It proposes a broader definition of deltas that takes into account the importance of sediment‐laden fluvial discharges in controlling deltaic sedimentation.

Hydrologic remobilisation of tephra‐fall deposits: A sedimentological analysis throughout fluvio‐lacustrine systems of North‐West Patagonia

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, Volume 10, Issue 5, Page 670-684, November 2024.
Fluvio‐lacustrine response to tephra‐fall events in proximal to mid‐volcanic settings. Characterisation of volcaniclastic remobilisation processes. The differentiation of downstream tephra transportation by floating processes from secondary lahars. Abstract This paper explores the response to Holocene ash inundation in different sub‐environments of two
