Inactivation of the CMAH gene and deficiency of Neu5Gc play a role in human brain evolution
During human evolution, some genes were lost or silenced from the genome of hominins. These missing genes might be the key to the evolution of humans’ unique cognitive skills. An inactivation mutation in CMP-N-acetylneuraminic acid hydroxylase (CMAH) was

Development of a Disease Model for Predicting Postoperative Delirium Using Combined Blood Biomarkers
ABSTRACT Objective Postoperative delirium, a common neurocognitive complication after surgery and anesthesia, requires early detection for potential intervention. Herein, we constructed a multidimensional postoperative delirium risk‐prediction model incorporating multiple demographic parameters and blood biomarkers to enhance prediction accuracy ...

Universal frequency-dependent ac conductivity of conducting polymer networks [PDF]
A model based on the aspect of the distribution of the length of conduction paths accessible for electric charge flow reproduces the universal power-law dispersive ac conductivity observed in polymer networks and, generally, in disordered matter. Power exponents larger than unity observed in some cases are physically acceptable within this model.

Neural Connectivity with Hidden Gaussian Graphical State-Model
The noninvasive procedures for neural connectivity are under questioning. Theoretical models sustain that the electromagnetic field registered at external sensors is elicited by currents at neural space.

Abnormal Synchronization Between Cortical Delta Power and Ripples in Hippocampal Sclerosis
ABSTRACT Objective Discriminating between epileptogenic and physiological ripples in the hippocampus is important for identifying epileptogenic (EP) zones; however, distinguishing these ripples on the basis of their waveforms is difficult. We hypothesized that the nocturnal synchronization of hippocampal ripples and cortical delta power could be used ...

Phase 1, First‐In‐Human, Single‐/Multiple‐Ascending Dose Study of Iluzanebart in Healthy Volunteers
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics of iluzanebart, a fully human monoclonal antibody TREM2 (triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 2) agonist, after single‐ (SAD) and multiple‐ascending‐dose (MAD) administration.

Universal Proteomic Signature After Exercise‐Induced Muscle Injury in Muscular Dystrophies
ABSTRACT Objective Several neuromuscular disorders (NMDs) are characterized by progressive muscle damage and are marked by the elevation of circulating muscle proteins from activity‐related injury. Despite a diverse array of genetic drivers, many NMDs share similar patterns of exercise intolerance and higher concentrations of muscle injury proteins ...

Epitope Mapping of Anti‐Neurofascin 155 Antibody in a Large Cohort of Autoimmune Nodopathy Patients
ABSTRACT Objective Autoimmune nodopathy (AN), a newly recognized disease entity, is an immune‐mediated polyneuropathy involving autoantibodies against cell adhesion molecules located in nodes of Ranvier and paranodal regions, such as neurofascin 186 (NF186) and neurofascin 155 (NF155). The present study aimed to identify the epitopes for autoantibodies

Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy Is Associated With Higher R2 Relaxation Rate: An MRI and Pathology Study
ABSTRACT Objective Cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA) involves β‐amyloid deposition in the walls of cortical and leptomeningeal small vessels. Transverse relaxation rate (R2) is a major source of contrast in MRI. This study tested the hypothesis that CAA is associated with R2, extracted the spatial pattern of CAA‐related R2 abnormalities, and evaluated ...
