Decoding the neural representation of affective states

open access: yesNeuroImage, 2012
Brain activity was monitored while participants viewed picture sets that reflected high or low levels of arousal and positive, neutral, or negative valence. Pictures within a set were presented rapidly in an incidental viewing task while fMRI data were collected. The primary purpose of the study was to determine if multi-voxel pattern analysis could be

Neural Decoding with Normalizing Flows

open access: yes, 2021
e pattern of light that reaches the retina is projected onto patterns of neural activity via a cascade of re exive computations alongside six interconnected brain areas in the occipital lobe called the visual ventral stream.

Data‐Driven Bulldozer Blade Control for Autonomous Terrain Leveling

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A simulation‐driven framework for autonomous bulldozer leveling is presented, combining high‐fidelity terramechanics simulation with a neural‐network‐based reduced‐order model. Gradient‐based optimization enables efficient, low‐level blade control that balances leveling quality and operation time.

A study on acceleration of SP decoder using reliability of recording sequence by neural network based on parity check result in SMR system

open access: yesAIP Advances
We study signal processing methods to realize ultra-high-density hard disk drives (HDDs). Among them, we have applied the neural network to improve decoding performance in low-density parity-check (LDPC) coding and iterative decoding in the shingled ...

Neural ensemble decoding reveals a correlate of viewer- to object-centered spatial transformation in monkey parietal cortex

open access: yes, 2008
The parietal cortex contains representations of space in multiple coordinate systems including retina-, head-, body-, and world-based systems. Previously, we found that when monkeys are required to perform spatial computations on objects, many neurons in

ERK‐Mediated Phosphorylation of YAP Defines a Noncanonical FGF Signaling Mechanism in Stem Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
With a powerful combination of in vivo, ex vivo, and in vitro models, the authors highlight a novel FGF‐ERK signaling regulation of YAP at the S128 site in neural crest‐derived stem cells. This study opens exciting new directions in stem cell biology and craniofacial biology, paving the way for potential innovations in the treatment of craniofacial ...

Adipocyte‐Derived Leptolin Enhances Energy Expenditure and Prevents Obesity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We identified a novel adipokine, which we named leptolin. In humans, leptolin levels in white adipose tissue were positively correlated with exercise and negatively associated with body mass index. We observed elevated leptolin in serum from athletes and lower leptolin in serum from obese individuals.
