Neurogenesis Mediated by γ-Aminobutyric Acid and Glutamate Signaling

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2009
.: In this review, we will summarize our ongoing studies on the functionality of both γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and glutamate receptors expressed by undifferentiated neural progenitor cells isolated from embryonic rodent brains. Cells were cultured with

Programmed cell death in type II neuroblast lineages is required for central complex development in the Drosophila brain [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Background: The number of neurons generated by neural stem cells is dependent upon the regulation of cell proliferation and by programmed cell death.

Entorhinal Astrocyte Transplants Restore Spatial Exploration and Alleviate Amyloid‐Beta Pathology in Alzheimer's Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Impaired MEC astrocytic Ca2+ signaling is associated with fragmented spatial exploration in AD mice. Region‐specific glial progenitor transplantation generates engrafted astrocytes that are accompanied by improved AQP4 polarization, reduced amyloid‐β‐associated pathology, attenuated neuroinflammation, preserved synaptic integrity, and ameliorated ...

Lack of Diaph3 relaxes the spindle checkpoint causing the loss of neural progenitors

open access: yesNature Communications, 2016
Molecular mechanisms that control the division of neural progenitor cells are only partially understood. Here the authors show that Diaph3 is critical for spindle checkpoint activity in cortical progenitor cells as the loss of Diaph3 leads to apoptosis ...

REST and Neural Gene Network Dysregulation in iPSC Models of Alzheimer’s Disease

open access: yesCell Reports, 2019
Summary: The molecular basis of the earliest neuronal changes that lead to Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is unclear. Here, we analyze neural cells derived from sporadic AD (SAD), APOE4 gene-edited and control induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). We observe

A two-step strategy for neuronal differentiation in vitro of human dental follicle cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Human dental follicle cells (DFCs) derived from wisdom teeth are precursor cells for cementoblasts. In this study, we recognized that naive DFCs express constitutively the early neural cell marker b-IIItubulin.

Magnetoelectric BaTiO3/CoFe2O4 Thin‐Film Meshes for Neuronal Differentiation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We engineer an epitaxial BaTiO3/CoFe2O4 magnetoelectric mesh that overcomes boundary‐induced mechanical clamping. Progressively reducing the mechanical constraint, from substrate‐clamped to PDMS‐transferred and ultimately freestanding, enhances magnetic‐to‐electric transduction and strengthens magnetoelectric coupling.

Functional Glutamate Signaling in Neural Progenitor Cells

open access: yesYAKUGAKU ZASSHI, 2011
In this review, we have summarized our recent studies on the functionality of ionotropic (iGluR) and metabotropic (mGluR) glutamate receptors expressed by undifferentiated neural progenitor cells (NPC) isolated from embryonic rat and mouse brains.

Highly Sensitive Spatial Host‐Microbiome Transcriptomics in FFPE Tissues via Iterative Hydrogel Expansion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Ex‐spRandom is a spatial transcriptomics platform that synergizes random‐primed chemistry with iterative hydrogel expansion. By physically decrowding the dense FFPE matrix, this scalable technology shatters the traditional resolution‐sensitivity barrier.

Dual function of Sox1 in telencephalic progenitor cells

open access: yes, 2007
The transcription factor, Sox1 has been implicated in the maintenance of neural progenitor cell status, but accumulating evidence suggests that this is only part of its function.
