A Pain in the Buttocks: Practice Article for Sonographically Imaging the Quadratus Femoris and Ischiofemoral Impingement

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Ultrasound, EarlyView.
Hip external rotation can cause compression of the quadratus femoris (QF) between the ischial tuberosity and lesser trochanter of the femur, resulting in pain in the buttock, hip, and groin which can radiate down the leg. Ultrasound imaging can demonstrate dynamic impingement of the QF, including symptom provocation.

Machine learning‐assisted optimization of MoTe2 neural electrode for enhanced electrochemical performance

open access: yesJournal of Intelligent Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Neural electrodes serve as the bidirectional bridge between the nervous system and external devices and play an irreplaceable role in the diagnosis and treatment of neurological disorders. However, conventional electrodes often suffer from high impedance, limited charge‐storage capacity, and poor stability, which constrain their durability ...

Optical Stimulation and Monitoring of the Peripheral Nervous System: Perspectives and Challenges Toward Clinical Translation

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
Optical neuromodulation with IR light allows stimulation of the PNS without the need for physical contact with the target nerve or without requiring any genetic modification. The clinical translation of this technique will pave the way to the development of neural interfaces for restoring sensory feedback in individuals with limb amputation.

Targeted Muscle Reinnervation for Intuitive Prosthetic Control

open access: yesMuscle &Nerve, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The convergence of medical and technological advances has led to a substantial expansion of therapeutic approaches for patients with limb amputations. Targeted muscle reinnervation (TMR) is one of the strategies to improve control of bionic arms and has been applied for more than two decades. Through surgical rewiring of the nerves responsible

Design and development of an anthropomorphic hand prosthesis

open access: yes, 2011
This thesis presents a preliminary design of a fully articulated five-fingered anthropomorphic human hand prosthesis with particular emphasis on the controller and actuator design. The proposed controller is a modified artificial neural network PID-based

Regenerative Peripheral Nerve Interface (RPNI) Surgery for Naturalistic Prosthetic Control

open access: yesMuscle &Nerve, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Loss of limb function remains a significant public health challenge affecting millions of people worldwide, causing high rates of disability, unemployment, and chronic pain. Current neuroprosthetic devices are limited by unintuitive control and poor long‐term embodiment.

The effect of different designs of custom foot orthoses on pain and balance in individuals with plantar fasciitis: A randomized controlled trial with 6‐month follow‐up

open access: yesPM&R, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Plantar fasciitis (PF) is a common cause of heel pain that significantly affects daily activities. Although custom foot orthoses (CFOs) are widely used to treat this condition, there is limited evidence comparing different orthotic designs and their effects on balance parameters.
