Real‐World Evaluation of Botulinum Toxin A in Focal Peripheral Neuropathic Pain: Longitudinal Outcomes

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neurology, Volume 32, Issue 9, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Neuropathic pain (NP) is frequently resistant to conventional treatments. Botulinum toxin type A (BT‐A) is a recommended option for focal peripheral NP, but the dynamics of its effect in real‐life conditions remain poorly characterized.

Where Does It All Itch? Exploring the Characteristics of Pruritus in Small Fiber Neuropathy

open access: yesJournal of the Peripheral Nervous System, Volume 30, Issue 3, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic itch, or pruritus, is a common discomfort of the skin. Chronic itch has been described as a symptom of small fiber neuropathy (SFN), a disorder affecting the small myelinated Aδ‐ and unmyelinated C‐fibers. While prior studies report itch rates in SFN ranging from 63%–68%, a distinct pattern has not been identified.

Trigeminal Nerve Asymmetry in Horses With Idiopathic Trigeminal‐Mediated Headshaking: A Retrospective Case‐Control Magnetic Resonance Imaging Study

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Volume 39, Issue 5, September/October 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Nerve atrophy results in trigeminal nerve (TN) asymmetry detectable by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in humans, but similar studies have not been performed in horses with idiopathic trigeminal‐mediated headshaking (ITMHS). Hypothesis Horses with ITMHS show greater MRI‐detected trigeminal‐nerve asymmetry than controls.

Neuroimmune pathophysiology of long COVID

open access: yesPsychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences, Volume 79, Issue 9, Page 514-530, September 2025.
Although COVID‐19 was originally considered a respiratory illness, it is now well established that SARS‐CoV‐2 infection can have far‐reaching impacts on the nervous system. Neurological symptoms such as chemosensory dysfunction are frequently observed during acute infection and approximately 10% of COVID‐19 cases will go on to develop new or persistent

Trigeminal neuralgia.

open access: yesClinical evidence, 1999
Trigeminal neuralgia is a sudden, severe, brief, recurrent, stabbing pain in the distribution of the trigeminal nerve. It is a rare condition whose etiology remains unknown. Diagnosis is by careful history and there are few investigations that are of value in the management of this condition.
