Using FPGA for visuo-motor control with a silicon retina and a humanoid robot [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The address-event representation (AER) is a neuromorphic communication protocol for transferring asynchronous events between VLSI chips. The event information is transferred using a high speed digital parallel bus.

Highly Scalable Neuromorphic Hardware with 1-bit Stochastic nano-Synapses

open access: yes, 2013
Thermodynamic-driven filament formation in redox-based resistive memory and the impact of thermal fluctuations on switching probability of emerging magnetic switches are probabilistic phenomena in nature, and thus, processes of binary switching in these ...

Intrinsic Nanopore‐Assisted SnP2S6 Memristors With Ti Ion Dynamics for Compact Logic‐In‐Memory Hardware

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Tin hexathiophosphate memristors leverage intrinsic nanopores together with a guided filament formation strategy to regulate titanium ion motion and switching behavior. The devices support reliable nonvolatile memory and reconfigurable logic‐in‐memory, demonstrating 14 Boolean logic functions in a single cell.

Carbon Contacts to Proteins Enable Robust, Biocompatible Electronic Junctions with Near‐Activation‐less Conduction Down to 10 K

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A robust solid‐state protein junction with a semi‐transparent eC/Au electrode allows photoexcitation of the bacterio‐rhodopsin, bR layer, to isomerize the bR retinal. The resulting photo‐response shows the protein is functional in the solid‐state junction.

Perception Understanding Action: Adding Understanding to the Perception Action Cycle With Spiking Segmentation

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurorobotics, 2020
Traditionally the Perception Action cycle is the first stage of building an autonomous robotic system and a practical way to implement a low latency reactive system within a low Size, Weight and Power (SWaP) package.

Spike Processing on an Embedded Multi-task Computer: Image Reconstruction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
There is an emerging philosophy, called Neuro-informatics, contained in the Artificial Intelligence field, that aims to emulate how living beings do tasks such as taking a decision based on the interpretation of an image by emulating spiking neurons ...

A Reconfigurable Mixed-signal Implementation of a Neuromorphic ADC

open access: yes, 2015
We present a neuromorphic Analogue-to-Digital Converter (ADC), which uses integrate-and-fire (I&F) neurons as the encoders of the analogue signal, with modulated inhibitions to decohere the neuronal spikes trains. The architecture consists of an analogue

Resonate and Fire Neuron with Fixed Magnetic Skyrmions

open access: yes, 2018
In the brain, the membrane potential of many neurons oscillates in a subthreshold damped fashion and fire when excited by an input frequency that nearly equals their eigen frequency.

Molecularly Engineered Highly Stable Memristors with Ultra‐Low Operational Voltage: Integrating Synthetic DNA with Quasi‐2D Perovskites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Molecularly engineered memristors integrating Ag nanoparticle–embedded synthetic DNA with quasi‐2D halide perovskites enable ultra‐low‐operational voltage, forming‐free resistive switching, and record‐low power density. This synergistic integration of customized DNA and 2D OHP in bio‐hybrid architecture enhances charge transport, reduces variability ...
